I do like how the lines are arranged at the moment. When Names and Appleton return, they replace Gus and Toni on the 4th line.
If Kupari could only just score at a reasonable rate, there's size, speed and skill on each line with the top line being one of the better scoring lines in the league. But alas, Kupari likely needs to be upgraded for the playoffs with either Chytil or Nelson as key targets for me.
On D, when healthy, I would like to see an Oleksiak or Dumoulin type acquired to replace Stanley on the bottom pair. The other pairings could get it done, if Pionk isn't overwhelmed with playoff speed as he was last year.
I would say Namestnikov probably goes back to the 3rd line, with Perfetti and Nino. And it's really just Ehlers and Nino swapping places in the newly reconfigured 2/3 lines, with Appleton out.
And Kupari and Barron go back to being the grind 4th line. A line that takes some defensive zone draws. Maybe Appleton lands here coming back. And it will be interesting to see who comes out if the Jets add.
PK guys are Iafallo/Lowry, Barron/Kupari (who has mixed results), Connor/Namestnikov I believe.
If the Jets added a guy like Granlund, they might just take Perfetti out and keep Namestnikov in the middle since he's a better C on the dot, and pretty good neutral zone center. And you can shuffle parts around if you don't like the looks you're getting.
I don't think the Jets are too worried about Pionk and speed, up until game 5 he had better results in his pairings than Morrissey-De Melo.
Getting closer to health I wonder though if it's not Fleury-Miller, Stanley/Heinola/Coghlan the Jets run. And where that leads to. Fleury is coming back in by the weekend I suspect, according to Arny.
I also wonder about the possibility of trading Chibrikov for help, and keeping all of the team's draft picks for once. Or most of them.
Not saying I like the idea, but if you have to move a guy who is NHL ready but untested in the NHL, looking to move up to a higher level and pay grade, it's from a position of depth. Especially if you want to open up the RW positions to guys like Lambert, Lucius or Ford.
