This is absolutely blowing up in Vancouver right now by the way.
Looks like Pettersson is available
Allvin went on blast basically, Not sure what you guys would offer, or how seriously you would be interested, He would obviously need a Haul.
But, just thought I would share and get your guys opinions!
Not everyday a 90+ Center with great Defensive abilities becomes available.

Thoughts?

I don't know if we could make the cap work - we've only got around 5mil right now. We'd have ~11mil right at the deadline though. Would be much more interested in Miller if that is another option.

If Ehlers is walking no matter what we could fit Pettersson in for next season - in that case I'd do 2025 1st, 2026 1st (top 5 protection), and your choice of Lambert/Yager.

Interesting, but futures deal would make little sense atm for canucks

This is the worst trade I've ever seen proposed on this entire website. Two first rounders for spare parts that wouldn't even make our lineup. McBain has 9 goals on a 25% shooting percentage, coming off the hottest streak of his career. Maatta has tried and failed to make an impact on five teams. He's closer to Liiga than he is to making an impact in the NHL. What an absolutely insane take this is. Hall of Fame bad take.
Heinola is a spare part in case you hadn’t noticed. The sooner people realize it the better.

So is Stanley, but he’s here to stay, like it or not.

I'd expect Pettersson to go somewhere like Anaheim. Zegras, maybe Strome as well, going the other way makes sense to me.

Strome doesn't seem to have a NTC...might be an option of Chevy?

I'd love to have Pettersson, but I think the only thing the Jets could offer would be futures-based. I don't think we'd want to give up anyone on our current roster since we'd likely need everyone for a playoff push.

Only thing I could think of off our current roster would be Ehlers since he doesn't have a contract yet. Whether that would even move the needle, I don't know. Even if it does, I'm sure an extension would have to be worked out ahead of time. So maybe Ehlers + futures.

Otherwise, the only current roster players would likely be spare parts, which would probably be insulting so I won't even mention

Not sure but I remember somebody coming up with an answer to when and how much Heinola had played the right side. It was very little and quite a while ago. Meanwhile, Stan has played a few games on the right side with the Jets. I'm not certain of either one so I stand to be corrected.

May not matter going forward anyway. Tonight's game seems to show that he is adapting to it pretty well. Odd because passing is a big part of his game and that is much harder for a Dman on his off-side. But that doesn't matter if the results are there.
I'd disagree with you on the bolded. When I rush the puck I generally gravitate to my offside because passing is actually much easier. Your stick is on the inside of the ice. Making and receiving passes is easier on your offside, which is why you see D and wingers flip on a PP.

It's practically everything else that's harder. Pivots, pulling the puck off the boards etc. is more difficult.

Wouldn't Chib or Lambert be the 13th man? Even if they sit in the PB they get a big paycheck.
Arniel had an interview before camp where he seemed to say that Lambert and Chibs would be call ups with an injury in the top 6 and a grinder type would be a call up for the bottom 6

Well you would know better than I, but I'm visualizing having the puck, near the boards, facing the opposing goal and having to pass on my backhand or pivot to use the forehand. Same position to receive a pass. Comes to my backhand. What am I missing there?

The difference is you open your body to the puck to receive a pass. You don't have to pivot, you just use your edges to open your body up to the middle, and then your stick is in the middle of the ice to give better options and angles.

When you make a pass on your on-side, you have to pass the puck across your body. Players are great at it as it's muscle memory, but it's inherently easier on your off side as your stick is naturally positioned to make a pass to the middle of the ice/ crossice.

wonder if the jets put a claim in on poolparty since appleton is out week to week
I hope not. Both Chibi and Lambo have shown well enough to come up and get more games. Might be demotivating if the Jets essentially say we're going to get a plug like Pulujiarvi instead of using them.
