There are very few legit #2 centers available. I wouldn't want to move assets for a guy who is borderline 2/3. We need a guy that can produce offense.

For me the only names which have been mentioned and sound interesting are Cozens, Brock Nelson, and Mikael Granlund. Barzal of course would be awesome but I don't believe he is a realistic option.

Cozens would probably cost the most given his age and the term remaining on his deal. Sabres would probably want a first plus good prospects. I don't think they'd be interested in rental vets so we wouldn't be unloading Iafallo or Miller on them. Guys like Heinola, Chibrikov, Lambert, Salomonsson would have to be on the table.

Brock Nelson is interesting to me. He's 33 but he can still skate and he's a big body with tons of playoff experience and success, going to the ECF twice. He has produced in the playoffs as well. He's been a top six centre his whole career. It's going to cost a first round pick for sure but maybe not much more than that... Probably a decent prospect as well. We'd have to strike first, there will be other teams interested. He has a 16 team no trade list but maybe would waive for Winnipeg in a rental situation with a good team?

Granlund is probably the cheapest but least effective of the trio. I still think he would be an improvement over what we have. If it's a first round pick straight up for Granlund and he's the only guy available, do you make the deal? I think I would.

I think the Jets could benefit by adding another 3/4 D and a 2/3 line forward as the gear up for the playoffs (I mean...most teams could ;)).

I don't like the idea of shipping out a ton of prospects and draft picks to do it though. Yager, Lambert, Salomonsson, Chibrikov, He, Walton and our 2025 1st would be off the table for me,

I would consider moving Fetts, Heinola, Stan and our 2026 2nd though if it meant improving the team. I'd also dangle Gus and Barron if it would help seal a deal.

I'd also put the rights to Rashevsky in the mix. A team like Philly might be able to lure him over.

“Can you make one move? Can you make two moves? Do you want to make one big move, do you want to make two other moves? And again, who’s out there."

Textbook Chevyquote.

Also:
“It’s a group that you want to win so badly for. I feel indebted to them for what they’ve given the organization, the community. I feel that it’s my obligation to try to help them achieve their goals of trying to win the Cup."

Uh...*their goals*? What's your f***ing goal, Chevy?? It sounds like he would otherwise be indifferent on helping these guys win the Cup but they've worked hard and now they've convinced him to give it a shot...lol
I imagine it doesn’t actually bother you that much and I’m the one making a big deal about it here, but are you actually annoyed at that second quote? To me, it seems like he is saying he feels compelled to be aggressively win now, more than he might otherwise.

Pretty sure he's just saying that the Cup win would belong to the team and not to him, since they are the ones who actually play the games. You know, being humble and downplaying his role.

It sounds bad, but I'm inclined to just chalk it up to Chevy's bafflegab. He's not saying what he's saying...he never is!

Yep. My main takeaways from this and every other Chevy interview, with very few exceptions, are these:

- He is Chevy and is GM of a hockey team, the Jets

- These Jets are made up of certain players, and might someday be made up of other players

- Ideally, this team should win games, and if they are not winning games, some changes may be made to promote more winning of games

- Several levers are available to Chevy to enable additional game winning; for example, a trade, or not a trade. Also, a coach might have a sudden revelation; for example, that a defender JMo might, if allowed, score points, and this would cost nothing at all

- See item 1, and/or make an appt to hear this list again on Locker Clearout Day

It be remarkable if Toews can contribute.
He’s old and hasn’t played competitively for few years. Those Stanley Cup rings were more than a decade ago
Maybe bring him in to win those face offs and teach the boys how to compete in the playoffs?
