Come on, how many Flyer ticket holders had a clue who Fedotov was?
People here obsess on minor transactions that are ignored by most of the fan base.
A ton? Possibly on par with any prospect they've had in a long time. The dude was kidnapped leaving a practice and sent to Siberia. They know who he is all because of things that have happened off the ice.

Was big enough for them to have STG, and PHLY talk about it. Assume Myrt did as well. They are the kings of controlling the narrative, and trying to make them appear like a premier franchise.

Been thinking, who do you think was in charge of hiring Briere?

The primary benefit of the PR wouldn't be with the fanbase; the point is showing prospective Flyers that management will have their back, and go to extreme lengths to take care of them. (Whether that's true in all cases, who the F knows, we do have our fair share of stories where we crammed someone under a bus when it suited management's narrative, but that's the story they're selling.)

Don't think that would have much of an impact either.

Simplest explanation is they really liked him off his 2021 season:
KHL 26g .919, POs, 22g .937, Int'l 15g .943
Year in exile, then last season 44g .914, PO 5g .916
So they may have figured he was working his way back to pre-exile shape and would be a good candidate to be a NHL backup.

Best move would be to send him to LHV to play every day and have Dilly work on his mechanics.

The utter and complete ineptitude of this organization is staggering. Just read an article where Torts and Shaw talk about the fact that being a translator for Michkov is too much for Zamula so they are trying to communicate themselves mainly through diagrams and repetition.

So, the billion dollar corporation that owns the team can’t afford a translator? Perhaps the “gold standard” of the NHL can’t grasp the concept of a translator? Or, are they just that,
A. Moronic
B. Insensitive
C. Ignorant
Or
D. All of the above

Somewhere, probably in Florida, I can hear Clarke saying, “translator? Why does the commie need a translator? In my day, we just teased the French guys and made em learn English! f***ing translator!”

If he wants to play in America he needs to speak American.

Russian translators are next to impossible to find, apparently. It's a small miracle Rocky 4 even got made.

Comcast probably has translators answering phones. One of them would happily take a pay bump to change departments

This is such a ridiculously easy problem to solve

Have you ever called a company like Comcast?

These days, I'm not sure they have any humans answering phones!

It's a rebuilding move, gamble some cap room on a short-term contract, hoping he'll regain the form he had before he was exiled.

Since they're not using that room for much the next two seasons, and cap room has far less trade value with a rising cap than 2-3 years ago, it's a reasonable gamble.

If it panned out, you had a bridge to the young goalies and a potential trade chip next summer.

Yeah, exactly my thoughts. There was only upside to this, not downside.
