You guys wouldnt move EDM for Jiricek??? Ill be honest I havent watched him play much but he was AHL rookie of the year as a 19 year old, dominant at the 2023 world juniors and was considered like the top RHD prospect in hockey at one point.

He's only 21. Talent like he has can't be taught. I know there have been concerns about his character and the pace he plays but frankly he reminds me quite of Rinzel in the times Ive watched him play. Obviously it'd be a bit of a gamble but man EDM projects to be like a #5 defensive guy.

Columbus would say go f yourselves lol
Well Jiricek was already traded so the point is moot I guess but just something to consider. Colton Dach was saying the EDM is the true leader in the Rockford locker room and he's the guy that holds everyone accountable. Now imagine removing that presence and replacing it with a faster, more talented, headache. Trading a real culture guy could interfere with the development of the other guys down there too and I think this is something GMs consider.

I've said it many times before that I think EDM's intangibles are more valuable than others do. And I also think that he has more value to the Blackhawks than he would another team because yeah, his game is limited but he's the natural leader of the prospects. He couldn't be that for another team as he can't just step in to a foreign locker room and be the same guy.

Necas is so good, one of the best coaches in the league doesn't want him on PP1, and doesn't want him on his top line. And this is a team with no elite wingers.

He is one of the worst forwards on his team in +/-, xGF%, HDCF%, while getting some of the most offensive zone starts (60%).
37 points in 24 games now 1 point off the league lead.

Chris Johnston says Bedard isn’t on Team Canada for the 4 Nations tournament. Which I’m fine with, good to get some rest instead of playing in some dinky tournament that doesn’t matter.

This tournament seems like a dumb idea in general to me, but I hadn't looked at the schedule until just now. NHL season goes on pause after the games on 2/09.

2/12 - 1 tournament game
2/13 - 1 tournament game
2/14 - 0 games
2/15 - 2 tournament games
2/16 - 0 games
2/17 - 2 tournament games
2/18 - 0 games
2/19 - 0 games
2/20 - championship game
2/21 - 0 games

2/22 - NHL games finally resume

7 days with zero games between this tournament and NHL games.

He doesn't deserve a spot, if we are being realistic. Brings nothing to the game outside of his offensive game, which lacks behind the guys they will have in those roles.

Levshunov and Korchinski are gonna look like Quinn Hughes (speed wise) compared to those slugs when they come up.
Martinez will be gone next season, and Brodie probably in Rockford by then.

So I don't think Lev and Korch will play with them in Chicago.

We'll see if Murph is still around. Feels like 2025 could be the year he's dealt.

Normally when a player is doing as well in the AHL as Nazar is I would advocate for a call up, but odds are he comes and immediately stops producing because he has no support and is a rookie and stops trying all the creative things that are helping him have success in the AHL. Let him stay and tear up the league, keep his mojo and squeeze as offensive development as he can out of this season

I disagree completely about rushing any of our prospects to the NHL for a year in which we're basically tanking again with eyes set on a potential #1OA pick. Lets just embrace the suck, let everyone marinate, and then strike when the time is right.

I'd try to open a roster spot for Nazar. Pair him with Bedard and have them on PP1 trying to get the best possible matchups on the ice. This roster needs more actual Centers and one is there to get put in.

san jose only has 3 young guys playing. I feel like next year we could see 4-5 depending. they are also giving up a ton of goals. I guess having a coach teach defense to younger players is good. but I tend to agree that he is probably should not be the coach next year.

At this point if a Forward gets hurt, they'll probably call up Dach or Nazar. Assuming some trades are made, they'll close out the season here. If they weren't doing well in Rockford, they'd probably call up a warm body like Sanford or Guttman, but since they are playing well, you can call them up. Compared to last year, Hawk forwards have stayed pretty healthy thus far.
