Is this where we ignore that he got yanked 2 starts ago? :sarcasm:

Is it crazy to start getting hyped for Taylor Makar too? His third straight 2 point game to start the season. He now has 3 goals and 3 assists in 3 games.

I’m not expecting him to be an impact point producer, but if he could become an impact energy forward that would be incredible

He was obviously a nepo pick, but I would love it if he played himself into a contract and career for himself.

At this point, it would be a real relief to have some of our picks hit, even if in bottom six roles.

Great play, but he's not beating any NHL goaler except ours with a shot like that at that angle.

I mean, he has to work out so we can guilt Cale into staying

Some prospects having a strong start to the season:

Zakhar Bardakov - 13 points in 20 KHL games already exceeds his point total from last season (12p/51GP)

Jake Fisher - 2G 1A in 5 games, not bad for a freshman getting bottom six usage.

Will Zellers - 4 goals in 5 games in the USHL.

Taylor Makar - 7 points in 4 games at U Maine, although given his age you should expect him to be a star on that team.

Max Curran - 7 points in 8 games in the WHL.

Nikita Prishchepov - 4 points in 5 games in the AHL, solid production for a guy in his first pro season.

Zellers is the most intriguing imo

I don't know, I really need to see more from him before I get too excited. As a smaller offensive guy he's got to either develop high end skill and skating to stay in the NHL, or remake his game to fit into a third line/depth scoring kind of role. Not only do guys with his profile not do that very often, but the Avs in particular have not had a good track record with picking that type of player. He could end up being the exception to that, but as of right now I am not overly whelmed by that pick.

Is Nabokov's team really bad? Or are the backups just brutal? His numbers are worse this year but they are significantly better than the backups. Has he improved but the team just got worse?

Ya we haven't really drafted many 5'11 skilled forwards who even made the league. Jost, Newhook, Hishon, and countless disappointments.

It's one thing to draft a small guy in the first round who already has elite skill, but a mid-rounder like Zellers who needs to develop that skill is even riskier. I don't want to say he's top six or bust, but he's got a very long way to go to get to being a useful NHL player. Frankly, I can see a clearer path for Fisher and Prishchepov to be NHLers.

Everyone is worse this year. Nabokov probably least so, but he’s wildly inconsistent.
