Now that he's gone, the Jays need two bats IMO and a new bullpen. A lot to do.

The best case scenario right now is probably Santander to play LF, Bregman to play 3B, a couple of 4/5 pitcher types, and as many interesting pen arms as they can cobble together. I doubt that all of that comes to pass, but if they can at least get a power bat at either 3B or a corner OF position and stock up the bullpen that will make a good amount of difference if you believe that a rotation of Gausman, Berrios, Bassitt, Francis, Rodriguez can work (and honestly, as long as Francis doesn't pumpkin it could work pretty well)

Not getting Soto is the most predictable result of all time.

And now we have a month late head start on the offseason, again.

At least he went to the NL.

Do you guys blame any player not wanting to come here? We will probably be stuck overpaying the last man standing.
I don’t at all. The best two players have not been signed long term by this shitty regime. Those are just the beginning of question marks.

At that price take em Mets now lets sign guys that are already here Vlad please and fix the bullpen. Might be best to trade for a bopper as I don't see anyone besides Teo I really think will be great over the length of contract these guys getting.

They have signed some bigger players before but without Vladdy and Bo signed, it's not too promising.

To me, the biggest letdown from the front office has been the inability to develop players after the first wave of talent and also not signing Bo and Vladdy. Bo, I can understand but Vladdy should have been signed by now.

Uncle Steve will not be outbid and wants to win his pops a world series before he shuffles off this mortal coil. Honestly respect it for both how much he's just willing to burn to do it, and the fact he probably caused Yankee Stadium to be metaphorically burnt down by this time tomorrow.

Never realistically thought he would come to the Jays anyway. And unlike Shoheigate, they still have plenty of time to pivot to other moves/adds.

This is the largest contract in the history of professional sports:

  1. Juan Soto (Mets) - $765,000,000
  2. Shohei Ohtani (Dodgers) - $700,000,000
  3. Lionel Messi (Barcelona) - $674,000,000
  4. Cristiano Ronaldo (Al Nassr) - $536,336,818
  5. Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) - $450,000,000

If you want the Jays to get the best free agents then they NEED to overpay. That’s the reality here.

They should have gone 8 years or upped the AAV on Adames. Is he worth that? No but at least he moves a needle a little bit for at least half the contract.

The farm system being terrible is also another thing forcing them to overpay free agents.

Shocked I tell you. What were the Jays selling outside of dollars. This team and future is bleak. If Vladimir doesn’t sign they have to trade him. Bo at the deadline.

Over 10 years since AA left because he didn’t want to work for these clowns. Forget Soto. Offer AA that money to come back and start a long term plan.

Those are two VERY different directions.

One is a 2 year deal the other is 5. They need some lumber, period. Both guys are statues with a glove on their hand but can hit the ball. One is 37 the other is 30. Other than 3 years diff in term, they aren't so different. Get one, not both. Find a real 3rd baseman with some thump and a LF with power..:. .... or light it on fire. I dont care but an in between measure hanging on to Vlad and Barbie for the playoff drive that won't happen doesn't make sense. Pick a direction by Christmas. Either support the flimsy core and roll the dice or nuke it.
