Will be interesting to see how Hughes do with a heavier workload.
He was a number one over-seas wasn't he?
It actually looks like he was a pure tandem goaltender last season and a number one the season before.

Yes, but Swiss league schedule is 52 games vs 72 for the AHL.

His top in a pro league is 36 games (or 39 if you count the POs and EHT).

The AHL is also a better league so games are probably more exhausting mentally/physically.

He will also get the tougher games that would normally be given to Dobes.

It's one game for me to see but.

Someone said Laval plays like Montreal (system wise) and I did not see that at all.

Every game you'll see the Habs dman chase players to the point, or you'll see wingers acting like d, or you'll see 3 players behind the net, two at the points and no one in front and give up a great chance.

Both teams tend to collapse to the hard. And by collapse, I mean they're like 15 feet max from the net at times.

For those who want a team that's physical, you'll love Tuch and Xhekaj. They both need more time, so I'm hoping the team doesn't rush them up because they're small and soft as f***.

Roy I mentioned in the GDT that he played better in the 3rd. Hopefully he's learning if he isn't scoring, he needs to do something else.

The D seems solid. Gotta give Hughes some credit there. The veterans he added looked solid and seem to help the kids.

I'd be greedy and bring in Jeffrey Viel and keep Arseneau with the team. Both have some skill for the A, but Viel more and he's more of an NHLer, so if the Habs need toughness you can call him up and Laval still had Arseneau.

That isn't from anything Viel did, just thinking of the future.

Connor Hughes made some massive saves. Providence isn't very good, but Laval didn't play all that well, either. Hughes kept them in the game and Beck scored a nice goal.

Davidson and Simoneau are both prospects that have that edge/agitator, but smaller. Davidson might be the better offensive thread between the two.

I would like the Habs to ensure a lot of their prospects play in the A. The A is still a fast league and a lot of the players are physical. It will get you warmed up to hits coming at you constantly

I was there yesterday, and it wasn't the most fun game to watch. Laval spent 75% of the second period in their defensive zone! One thing I liked was that Roy did other small things, even though he hasn't been able to create offensive chances often. I saw him block shots and deliver a big hit. It makes me think he could succeed consistently with the Canadiens, at least on a third line.

Really happy that Beck is finding his groove. I hope we send Kapanen back to Sweden so he can do the same.
For the first time since possibly Price our AHL team is having success with kids. Couple of years ago our best prospects were Reway, Getho and Bozon and those guys were about the same quality as Farrell or Kidney. I'm amaze so many of our fans already gave up on Mailloux and Roy the guys are destroying the AHL atm.

I don't. We can't have 10 rookies next year. Some have to play in the NHL. If they send Kapanen back to Europe then they should recall Roy.

With the Marlies loss yesterday, Laval are 1st in the division even if Toronto wins their game in hand.

Andrighetto made the NHL and was too good for the Farrel is closer to being sent to the ECHL than be an NHL regular.

How has Engström looked thus far?
The two games I've seen he's looked solid. It shows he needs to adjust to the fame in NA, but doesn't seem to be overwhelmed in those 2 games.

I'd like to draw some attention to the fact that Jared Davidson has looked incredible this year in the AHL; He is certainly much improved from last Winter.

Last year he went on a bit of a surge in the last 30 games or so with Laval but was pretty much a fourth-liner and even bench-warmer to start the year.

This season though, Davidson's been on an absolute tear alongside Owen Beck. He's been playing solid all-around hockey, providing sand-paper and grit when needed, and just being in the right places at the right time with or without the puck.

Davidson's been a joy to watch so far in short, as has been the entire Laval Rocket team.

Even more so if we consider the horrible spectacle that is the Montreal Canadiens right now.

He's one of the reason i'm not a big fan of signing Evans long term. Don't think it will take 3-4 years for Davidson to be ready.

Davidson will play wing, don't think he has a single rep at center in the AHL.. so he's not an answer to Evans, he'd be more of an answer to Armia.
