My gut tells me that verbeek is going to make a big big splash soon for a top 6 forward. Tell me im crazy?

I don't think Verbeek is going to make that happen. I think it all depends on a team willing to depart with a top-6 forward or any other top talent. Verbeek didn't make the Cutter deal happen; the Flyers' org made that happen. Verbeek didn't make the Trouba deal happen; the Rangers org made that happen. Verbeek was able to take advantage of those two situations.

The question is, "Which team with a top-6 forward is willing to change direction with team to trade away said player?"

@GiveYouABagOfPucks did posit Tage Thompson, but I dunno if Buffalo wants to continue their perpetual rebuild since they haven't been to the playoffs since 2011.

If they have a deal in place I could see them scratching him until the deadline is over.

They cant make a deal but the GMs can negotiate and come to terms.

Exactly. If a trade has been agreed to, the other GM could ask that he not play. Once roster freeze is over, they announce the trade. If thats whats going on and given the Rangers track record, that seems to make sense

It’s very possible when our scouts were at the rangers games a few weeks ago, that not only were we eyeing trouba, but Kreider as well

I think he will make a big big splash for what he thinks is a top six forward. I honestly feel if he trades it will be for someone middle of the pack that won't tip the scales and we will have another killorn on our roster.

Edit: I would love to be wrong about this though

Why, exactly, do people want Kreider, unless he’s being given away?

I can very much see both sides of this one.

On one hand, we struggle badly to score - and this guy has 52, 39 and 36 goals over the past three seasons, along with another 24 goals in 43 playoff games over that span. Even this year in a down year, he has more goals than our leading scorer and is pacing for 30.

The concerns are obvious though. Those numbers above pretty clearly declining and that's always cause for alarm when a player soon turns 34. He makes significant money and with term remaining. How many perceived problems can we take from NY before we end up with the actual problem?

Clearly has a bit of a rock bottom situation going on with the healthy scratch today. I sort of expect some level of bounceback there, which is where I find myself with lukewarm interest. Would be nice to fall into a 30-35 goal guy for the next couple years, if he's still capable

75pt last season Kreider imho is what we will get once he leaves a toxic situation.
He’s a soon to be 34 year old power forward who’s been injured this year, isn’t much of a hitter, and isn’t producing on a MUCH better team.

The idea is to have fewer Killorn’s, not more.

Let’s not pretend this locker room doesn’t have issues.

If the Ducks did a swap for him and Killorn, I would do that. However, I agree, he doesn't make sense for assets needed to get him and it's a short term solution. The Ducks need to be patient and wait for the next, high end forward to become available push hard for him.
