I don't understand the coddling reply for Solberg, especially when I wrote, "Solberg is just 18-years old in a top men's league (SHL). This year is a year to develop his game as well as consistency." You are reiterating what I said.

Here is my post about Solberg's previous game:

As you can see, I denoted Solberg has the most ice time for the team and was very good that game. The very next game, it was a bad game for Solberg. Just shows the inconsistency of a young player, which we're in agreement of. There is nothing malicious reporting about what actually happened. You can stop with the white knight defense of Solberg when we're both fans of Solberg.

Wow...I just find it funny to see you focus on "fewest TOI" when there are just a few seconds between the players. That's why I said you shouldn't read much into that.

Going from 19:11 TOI (highest) to 13:36 TOI (lowest among d-men) in back to back games is something funny? But that's just TOI. You completely neglected good play went with the 19:11 TOI and bad play with 13:36 TOI. That identifies inconsistency, albeit at opposite extremes. It is evident you have problem with actual reporting and just what to white knight for Solberg all the time. There is nothing wrong with identifying Solberg had a bad game.

Again, we're both fans of Solberg, but I actually do want to know how he's been playing. You've hyped up Solberg so much with his most TOI in pre-season to make believe Solberg is a top-pairing D today. But you have toned your schtick down tremendously during the regular season b/c Solberg is a 2nd pairing D. Yet, you want to jump down my throat for identifying a fact that Solberg had the lowest TOI among defensemen and exclude the context that he has been playing 2 minutes or more above that? Don't be hypocrite.

Once again, there's nothing wrong with identifying Solberg had a bad game; the -2 rating and 2 PIM probably justified Solberg losing minutes.

What is the matter with you? They’re just someone who’s been following Solberg closely that wants to give us as much insight as possible.

Why does it always have to be a never ending argument

And I imagine they are actually watching him live to provide context stats don’t show. @Webster we appreciate the continued insight!

Why do you always have to be like this? Especially when Webster has provided a lot of good information about Solberg in this thread.

Absolutely unbearable that you want to fight and argue with everyone here as if they have made some personal attack on you, no matter who it is.

Thanks, I know you'd like to stay updated on Stian. I'm actually just back from a trip to Karlstad (Färjestad's home town), met with a few players and staff, great team. I'll let you know when there's more interesting stuff for you guys about him and Damian.

Thanks for the updates! Do you recommend a trip out there? I'm trying to figure out a trip in late December for my birthday, I was thinking of catching a game (pending wife's approval of the trip). She wants to go somewhere with stuff to do aside from hockey. I've never been to Sweden or Finland, so was thinking of somewhere out there if we decide on somewhere cold to visit.

Karlstad is a great place to visit, I'll provide a link for tourists. I would also recommend Norse Airlines, nonstop from LA to Oslo. Great fares. From Oslo it's just a 3 hours drive to Karlstad.

Thanks! I think I flew that airlines last time I stopped in Oslo. I had a one day layover there, definitely wouldn't mind spending more time in that area

Does he even count as a prospect any more?
Yeah Galimov is 25 so he's not really a prospect anymore but we still hold his rights. This is also the last year of his contract so there is some small chance that he might come over next year

Who do you guys think will be this season's biggest riser within our system?

Also which guys are you going to write off if they don't produce this season?

Tarin smith
How much do you think he will rise within the system, do you think he will be top 10 organizationally by the time we do the poll again? A lot of people seem to think he will break out but what's ceiling, could he be another Zellweger/Luneau tier of prospect?

Ill answer your original question.... my 3 high risers

1) Smith- i think will make the highest jump(at least according to our forum rankings), i expect him in the top 10 next years polls. Hes got a ton of offense upside, i think hell have a very productive year at least a PPG dmen. Hes also got decent size on him, and pretty tough in the dzone.... i think this was our best pick in the draft last year, in terms of potential and where we got them. Idk that hell be on the lvl of zellweger/luneau, but maybe the tier under them.... he has very hutson style movement on the back end, lot of change of speed and directions... good at changing the angle of where he is shooting from to get his shot through. I think smith just needs to continue gaining strength and developing as a complete dmen.

2) Masse- I was high on him at the draft(would have been happy to get him at oilers 1st round pick), so getting him at 66 made me pretty excited. Should have a dominant season in the QMJHL this year... i think hes a great compliment to what we have on the roster already.... Big right handed shot that can score goals and molded as kinda a power forward , should be a great potential option down the line for us. I think hell end up in the top 10 also after this season. Biggest thing is working on his skating.

3) Pettersson - I know hes already in our top 10, but i think he has the potential to take a significant jump up the rankings. Great skill set, mature player... i think hes got a sky high potential.

Rooting for myatovic mainly because of the haters
No one here hates him...but he has done absolutely nothing at the pro level to indicate that he should have been taken where he was in the draft. He has been invisible at both the rookie tournament and in the preseason games he has played. I expect more from someone taken 33OA. I hope to be proven wrong but right now he looks like someone the Ducks invited to camp on an ATO.

And I'm rooting for him too BTW.

The problem I have with Myatovic is that not only has he done nothing at the pro level to warrant his draft pick, he’s also done nothing at the junior level to warrant it either.

He’s the next Tracey barring something unforeseen at this point IMO

And I'll emphasize that it isn't Myatovic's fault that the Ducks picked him 1-2 rounds too early...that is all on the Ducks. Had he been taken where he should have been, no one would be saying anything about him b/c he is very obviously an extremely long term project.

The picks around him don’t exactly seem to be doing great either… outside of like brindley.

Great is subjective but guys like Hulttunen, Wahlberg, Nelson, and Rehkopf are all big guys who are talented and are on a much better trajectory than Myatovic. Then there are smaller guys like Brindley (who you mentioned), Cristall, and Gauthier. And wouldn't a 6'4" RHD who has some offensive upside look good in the prospect pool right now? That would be Andrew Gibson.

So yeah, I think there were much better choices and I was expecting one of them to be selected at 33OA.
