It's possible that Cronin is not cut out to be an NHL head coach. Many minor league, amateur and former pros have gotten a shot in the NHL and did not succeed.
PV chose to give a new guy like Cronin a shot at the NHL rather than recycle another NHL coach who will be overpaid and will likely wear out his welcome in 3-4 years anyways. Underperfoming teams will begin to fire coaches in early Dec or January so PV will get a chance to see who looks interesting, who is interested in Anaheim's situation and who might be better than Cronin if things don't turn around.
By the way what happened to Matt McIlvane ? I thought he is a hot shot coach from Europe who was thought to be a young player's coach and PV's future guy at the time he was hired.
