The goalie they have is a huge risk to perform at historical worsts of all time.Literally every goalie they try and get will be a risk, if not a massive risk.
The Avs reportedly being in on Askarov last Summer leads me to believe they aren't as confident in Georgiev as you think. That’s why they will keep Georgiev
No no, that's fine, just get the goalie. Let someone like the Leafs go and get Fowler and live to regret it.Fowler among vets still in play for Ducks — The Fourth Period
Cam Fowler remains available in Anaheim, along with 3 forwards on expiring contracts.www.thefourthperiod.com
Go get them both.
Traded the right guy or traded the guy Buffalo GM asked for. If he asked for Girard instead of Byram for Mittelstadt, you don’t think CMac would do it? I think he’d do it in a secondRight, exactly, so the Avs traded the right guy. Doesn’t mean they traded the better player, they traded the guy with the better rep.

Or are they putting Kahkonen in the AHL for Cap reasons?Their faith in Georgiev is now fully restored. He’s starting again tonight and Kahkonen is on waivers
Nah, he's a RHD and Malinski has been quite good this season.Would you put a claim on Benning?

A good chunk of this board underestimated how much management was willing to do at the deadline as well. The Avs reportedly being in on Askarov last Summer leads me to believe they aren't as confident in Georgiev as you think.
Askarov was a possible long term solution.Very unlikely they were after Askarov to replace Georgiev this season.
As has been pointed out repeatedly, that will not work with Georgiev.Personally, I think it’s highly doubtful we go after a starter. If anything, it’ll be a 1Bish type.
Who cares? He’s in the final year of his contract. This is his last run.As has been pointed out repeatedly, that will not work with Georgiev.
I don't give a shit about his feelings, I care that his play would be adversely affected so it makes any attempt at a tandem situation pointless.Who cares? He’s in the final year of his contract. This is his last run.
Upsetting him is no longer a consideration. The long term ramifications of upsetting Georgiev no longer exist. If he’s unhappy, it won’t matter, he won’t be here next year.
Any other season, this would’ve been a consideration because they had him under contract for future years and needed him.
That’s over now.
I think we’re simply having a misunderstanding on the 1B portion. I don’t expect them to acquire a guy that will share the crease with Georgiev. More like a guy borderline capable of taking over should Georgiev completely fall apart.I don't give a shit about his feelings, I care that his play would be adversely affected so it makes any attempt at a tandem situation pointless.
Bottom line, you cannot have him be a 1A or a 1B. Not gonna work. Bring in another goalie and have him heading the other way. If Joonas frickin' Korpisalo can be moved, than any goalie can be moved.
They have to get a guy who moves the needle, Allen won't do that. The minute they DO get a guy who moves the needle, George is gonna freak the f*** out, so it's a Catch-22 situation. They get a guy who doesn't threaten Georgiev, they're still at Square One, they get a guy who is even perceived to supplant him, he's gonna freak the f*** out.I think we’re simply having a misunderstanding on the 1B portion. Georgiev would still be the starter.
Obviously, if they acquire a starter with Georgiev going the other way, that’s ideal. I was simply stating from the start that i don’t believe the Avs will actually do that. Would be nice if they did.
Example of a guy like Jake Allen. Not a starter but ideally better than a 20 game backup.
This is under the assumption that someone who moves the needle is available? And the Avs what is needed to get him. They have to get a guy who moves the needle, Allen won't do that. We already know one guy who's available (Gibson). Just depends on how/if they can make the money work. Won't be easy because Verbeek is the most stubborn GM in the league and he works for the cheapest owner in the league. This is under the assumption that someone who moves the needle is available? If not, what’s the alternative?
