Does Dreger ever report anything without name dropping Toronto?

Laf+SchneiderIf Mikko gets traded to the Rangers I guarantee it’d be for Laf+ not Zibby. Which would be better than for Zibby but would still not be a good trade imo. If they do move Mikko for Zibby that’d be a near window ender imo.
That sounds like a good lifePettersson would be great. A guy who apparently doesn't get along with noted bozo JT Miller. Stick him on a team with MacKinnon and he'll walk away from his contract to go and farm otters in the Yukon.
Would have to be picks and prospects. Schneider isn’t good.So who would be your +?
Naw...Needs more connectivity to the organiziation. Laf + Blidh.Laf + Cuylie
Zibby contract is atrocious. IDK if that's even tradable without including a big asset(s) or additional players with it.Trading Rants for a base involving Zibby would be the most slam the mutha f***ing contention window shut move to make.
Again, there has been no such report. Lavoie wasn't reporting anything, he was merely talking about the Avalanche being a type of a team that would be willing to pull of such a move even in a cup window. While there has been exactly zero times the Avs have done something like that, and on the contrary, have many times kept their pending UFAs as rentals and then let them walk during the summer.
I believe the Avs would be willing to pull the trigger in a trade that would help them win a cup this year and in the future. Pulling off such a trade is pretty f***ing hard to do.
Does anyone have a link to where he said it?I don't really believe it, but that wasn't just idle speculation from Lavoie.
He's basically saying he heard the Avs would move a guy like Mikko rather than lose him for free. He's not just spitballing with his comments, he's using them as an example of a team that would do that, and stating it matter of factly. He would have phrased it differently if he was speculating.
Fair point that the Avs haven't made a move like that, but they've changed course and done a few things lately that they don't usually do. Traded a #4 pick for a 2C. Traded both goalies mid season. Paid more in AAV and term for a goalie. I don't think past is necessarily prologue with this team anymore. They've become much more aggressive.

Cued up with context.
Yeah that's not spitballing, he used the Avs as an example of a team that don't want to lose Rantanen for nothing.
People really hear what they want to hear
CMac isn’t Sakic so we shouldn’t be surprised if his decisions deviate from past history. But I very much doubt CMac would move Rantanen except for value. Zibs? Absolutely not.I don't really believe it, but that wasn't just idle speculation from Lavoie.

I do think the most likely reason these comments were made though, is the Avs wanted to leak them to pressure Mikko into signing.
I don’t really think anyone thinks Cmac will move Mikko this year. But this news of moving Mikko definitely stinks of a negotiation tactic.CMac isn’t Sakic so we shouldn’t be surprised if his decisions deviate from past history. So I've been thinking about the Landy situation...if he does come back before the playoffs then what do we do? Toews is no longer injured so the LTIR theory went out the window. There's the possibility of Nuke never coming back but it doesn't look like it's the case at this point.
That leads us, again, to a Rantanen trade before the deadline.
What would make the most sense here is trading him for a pending UFA/RFA that makes 3M or less right now but is due for a big raise next year or later (because he's that good). This way we could have him + Landy this year and then use Rants' cap hit to re-up him later.
Is there such player out there?
Why would the Avs use the French guy who rarely speaks to English media? Doesn't make a lot of sense.I don’t really think anyone thinks Cmac will move Mikko this year. But this news of moving Mikko definitely stinks of a negotiation tactic.
IMO that'd be a significant downgrade, I'm not sold on him. Can the Rags afford Rants?Laf?
The new contact is already signed, too. Kicks in next season.

What do we think a team is giving up for 3 months of Rantanen?
