What about Rantanen for Crosby? I don’t know the pluses and minuses but that seems like an odd option that could work.

He probably goes to sleep every night thinking about strangling his former agent
At the end of the day, you need to be communicating with your agent and if Klingberg wasn't made aware of any offer then yeah, he rightfully should be pissed but if he was made aware and gave them the OK to seek more money then he's just as much at fault.

Drouin - MacKinnon - Nichushkin
Lehkonen - EP - xxxx/Landeskog
That lineup is like a whisper in the wind, its there and then its gone to Suspension, IR or whatever else. Only ones who are constantly in the lineup are Lehky and Mack. Everyone else are question marks. And the only other winger who has been healthy for the longest time was traded away in this scenario. So Kivi/LOC/Colton/Wood/etc to 1/2 lines it is then...

Pettersson would be great. A guy who apparently doesn't get along with noted bozo JT Miller. Stick him on a team with MacKinnon and he'll walk away from his contract to go and farm otters in the Yukon.
I have the same thoughts. I know it's only one data point, but Mittelstadt was way, way better in 2024 playoffs than Pettersson was. And we are considering hitching our wagon to him for 8 more years at $11.6M AAV?

Zibby is subtraction by addition. Losing Rants for nothing in UFA closes the window.

Trading for Zibby welds the window shut and and then aims a nail gun at your dick.

Yeah, I get talking about Petty, Brady, Svech, and Necas..

Lmao @ Zbad he's signed until 2030 at 8.5M and he's 31. Kadri is playing better than he is.

Can someone extrapolate exactly how much ice time Rantanen has had with MacKinnon and how much he's had without him ?

This season: 799 minutes with, 189 minutes without
23-24: 1,561 minutes with, 270 minutes without
22-23: 1,146 minutes with, 404 minutes without
21-22: 1,061 minutes with, 168 minutes without
20-21: 789 minutes with, 89 minutes without
19-20: 666 minutes with, 129 minutes without
18-19: 1,348 minutes with, 194 minutes without
17-18: 1,266 minutes with, 146 minutes without
16-17: 929 minutes with, 424 minutes without

Been practically attached at the hip since 17-18.

You know what I find crazy about Kadri is he still looks good as a 34 year old. He's still moving around the ice very well, still has the hands, shot, physicality and competitiveness. Meanwhile when you compare him to others from his draft class:

John Tavares, still producing but slower than slow
Victor Hedman, producing but has clearly slowed down
Matt Duchene, still producing
Evander Kane, can't stay healthy anymore
Brayden Schenn, basically a 3rd liner now
OEL, basically a 4/5 dman
Chris Kreider, having a horrible year in NY
Marcus Johansson, basically a 3rd liner and has been for a while
Kyle Palmieri, playing at a 53 point pace

Every other 1st rounder from that draft is awful. Non-1st rounders like O'Reilly, Tatar, Barrie, Foligno, Smith, Silfverberg, etc all slowed down or completely done. Naz still looks good. Who knows how long that lasts.

I think Naz understands how to manage his effort level throughout the game. To a level he's a little lazy at times, we all should remember that, but when its time to go he goes, and he goes all out in big game moments.

I actually thought ROR would age better than he has.
