Does today signify the Avs tapping out on Seth Jones?
Yup - and go figure, as soon as the Avs make a trade, the other player that they actually wanted gets dealt. Every time the Avs are after a bigger named player, they are there till the last minute before making a different trade and then that other guy gets dealt. Always the brides maid thing or what ever haha

Are you suggesting that MacFarland isn’t a believer in John Wooden’s “never mistake activity for achievement” quote?

I do wonder with the timing of the Lindgren deal, if Jones wasn't the initial target and then with that return I imagine the Avs could have absolutely matched so you do have to wonder if perhaps Jones nixed the deal.
What player do the Avs have that match Knight?
I can't believe CMac couldnt' meet that offer. Like Nabokov + 2026 1st? In a heartbeat.
Nabokov and Knight value don't match

Wonder if Jones is the Ekblad replacement going forward with him being an UFA after this season. Then again, Forsling is an absolute steal so maybe they find a way to keep him.

Crazy. Didn’t realize you could try and improve your team as a defending Cup Champion. Guess Cmac must have missed that memo 2 years ago.

Must be nice to have competent management over there in Florida.
Can’t compare the two teams. Florida doesn’t have a MacKinnon making 12 plus mill, they don’t have a Makar making 9, at the time we also had Mikko making 9 plus etc…

If I’m not mistaking, Panthers most expensive player is Bob at 10 mill then Tkachuk at 9 and they don’t really have very expensive players after those 2

Edit: Forgot about Barkov making 10, but I guess we had more expensive depth players

Maybe not in value but in potential. I would have added more. Plus he's ready to come over next year so he could have at least battled for a spot.
Knight's pure potential may have dropped from when he was initially drafted, but that drop would still have his potential way higher than Nabokov's. Plus, Knight is in the NHL already, Chicago management can at least evaluation him on that compared to trying to guess if Nabokov can transfer

Are you serious? They also have Barkov at 10 and Reinhart 8.5. Their best players get paid as well as ours do. The Panthers just happen to have a significantly more competent management group then the Avs.
