That's a heck of a return unless Knight is broken beyond repair.
Well, he's still only 23 but he has not been good at all to begin his NHL career and this season through 23 games is 37th out of 62 goalies with a minimum of 10 GP in GSAA.

IMO the Hawks are hoping he's the Fleury to Bedard akin to Crosby and grow together. Especially if they don't retain.

Edit: Neeeeeveermind. 25% retention makes this bad for Chicago.

I know that he was good at first but then had personal issues and joined the PA program for what seemed to be forever. I lost track after that.

So...similar package from us would he Nabokov + 1st. Steep but with that retention would've been a pretty good deal I'd say.

Not the same.

Nabokov is in Russia and has never played a game in North America.

Knight, despite his struggles, is 23 and already in the NHL. He was also considered a generational goaltending prospect when he was drafted.

Can't wait until we find out that the Avs had a better offer but he wouldn't waive.
This feels like Chicago had something very specific in mind: a <24 year old NHL player who can step into the lineup now and a 1st round pick.

Florida had that in Knight and Lundell. Dallas has that in Stankoven/Bourque but Chicago probably preferred the goalie. We, unfortunately, do not have that player and were likely never in it.
