How do you know you even get there? Saying they'd win those Game 7s if you substitute this guy for that guy makes it sound like the guy being replaced did nothing positive in the series to get the Bruins to a Game 7. The gap between Player X and the new Player Y when your talking 3-4 millon isn't that big. These are all NHL caliber players.

If this was a true difference maker, a primary scorer or top pair D-man, I can see the argument. But that isn't what we're are talking about here.

It doesn't have to be a game 7, that was just one example. I clearly stated in my post "Long history of NHL playoff series decided by one depth guy deciding to go off in a pivotal game." Pivotal game doesn't have to be 7.

If you don't think player X @3-4m can have a different impact than player Y @3-4m(or player Z @5m thats riding the bench) then we are just going to disagree on the core premise of the conversation.

Not sure what you are hoping to accomplish but it's not working. Just stop

You were dummied yesterday. You should avoid going down this road again.

Buddy just recognize that he brings info from sources
Weird. Almost like I have said this exact same thing multiple times and you are missing the point.

Bolded circles back to the original point I was making when talking about the "Dom says a lot of things" comment. Nothing I posted was an attack on you. Not sure why you are getting so defensive. Not sure how many ways I can say that I understand what it is you do and info being incorrect isn't your fault. The bolded above is you citing a specific example that supports my point.

Again, nothing but respect for what you do. I appreciate the perspective you bring to all things Bruins.
Buddy just recognize that he brings info from sources and you just spitball ideas. Apologize and move on.

Can we stop all this Dom bullshit, Knowledgeable guy especially with the salary cap, which helps me because I am a total dumb ass when it comes to the cap, but lets move on there are many good posters on this site, if Dom wants to leave so be it, his right. In his defense no one gets everything right all the time and if he has inside info great if he passes it on. But some of you guys act like the sun rises and sets on this guy, sorry I am too old for hero worshiping.
To lighten thing up a bit

It's not hero worshipping --- it's simply appreciation and respect.

He's got connections that 99.9999 % of us don't and he's willing to share things that either:

inform us
make us think differently
correct us if we're off base
entertain us

And, just like with every other poster, he deserves the same level of respect we all do --- not more or less (and I'm sure he'd agree with this) the same.

Just because he has great sources doesn't mean he should get more crap when he posts something that doesn't happen, especially since he always points out that what he shares is just info he gets from people involved and is only as accurate as the moment he receives it.

There are probably dozens of conversations about trades. etc. that he hears about every week. He doesn't have to share any of it, but he does, and it makes this place better and more interesting.

Since you joined in 2018, you haven't seen the number of similar insiders that have left here because of the lack of respect they received. It's really too bad because for 95% of us, their input was appreciated.

We all have our opinions and perspectives and most of them are coming from a place that isn't as informed as Dom's are......that's just a fact.

Great post.

The people who attack Dom directly for sharing things that for any number of reasons ended up not coming to pass is unnecessary. Luckily the moderation team does a great job cleaning that stuff up when they spot it.

But for the most part I believe a lot of the posters here understand the situation and appreciate what Dom brings to the site. There are some I believe that do go a little overboard in coming to his defense but mostly its harmless.

Based on the various responses, which would be more valuable from Detroit? 15 overall this year or their 2025 first? And would the better of the two plus Jonatan Berggren (middle six scoring winger prospect, likely ready to hit the NHL) be enough?

But if you feel that way why do you give a shit?

There are a LOT of people on this Board who really appreciate what Dom has to say on any number of things. If you don't that's fine. But just stay the f*** out of it. Seriously, if you think it's not worthy of consideration, move along.

Frankly, and I mean this without being a dick, Dom's opinion is much more valuable to me than yours. That doesn't mean I think you shouldn't post - not at all. Just asking you not to antagonize someone who undoubtedly has many more contacts and information than you or I - and is willing to share it.

Ask Wally for the list of informed people who used to post on these Boards but no longer find it worth the effort if a bunch of anonymous posters are going to say "if they can't take it, how do they even leave the house" as an excuse to post their own "nothing burger
It’s a small dog complex. They just have to yup. Always the contrarian. It’s fine with regular posters, even if it’s annoying, but leave the posters in the know alone. They just come here to share their valuable knowledge not looking to debate or argue. If you have nothing good to say, don’t say it all. 95% of what is said on this board is nothing burger, just jibber jabber. It’s refreshing to hear the other 5%. So leave them the f*** alone!

Whats the return you would be looking for? Ullmark?

I’m really hoping that Sweeney is targeting a viable player to immediately plug in to the lineup and not just draft picks. While I know the draft pick cupboard is bare, this draft is lean on talent and the roster needs help now not in three years.
On the brighter side if he does get"just Draft picks", he can add prospects and use Ullmarks cap hit on immediate help

I'm not though. Long history of NHL playoff series decided by one depth guy deciding to go off in a pivotal game. If two teams are evenly matched, it can be a depth piece that makes the difference.

Max Talbot dropped 2 goals in a game 7.

Max Talbot had 8 goals in the playoffs that season. Only Crosby & Malkin had more for the Pens. It wasn't like there was a chance Dustin Jeffrey was going to play game 7 instead.

Correct. And that assumes he would be willing to go to Detroit and sign an extension.

I think Ullmark with Detroit pushes them further up the standings next season. So I'd have to imagine next years 1st would be worse.

So #15+ would probably be the price.

Now wether Boston makes the pick or trades it in another deal for more immediate help is a different question.

Thank you for making my point about players that are considered depth players being able to be difference makers and its not just limited to the Crosby/Malkins. Add Fernando Pisani to the list as well.

I hope Sweeneys waits for a deal to be made. Ullmark is the best goalie who is available. Detroit, Colorado, Ottawa, Carolina, Toronto still needs to upgrade their goaltending. There could be a bidding war for Ullmark very possibly. The only problem is Ullmarks NTC ...
