Gonna call it now. Knight will be dealt. Waeber will be Bob's backup next year.
Lol 0 chance. And if Knight turns out to be a pumpkin like you think, no one is touching his contract.

Yup he’s scratched. Samo just made a terrible turnover right to a Gulls player all alone in the slot. 1-0 Gulls after one.
Kinnear doesn’t seem like he has a f***ing clue.

Easy to look back now but what was the reason for him sliding so far in the draft?

Speed was suspect, and goal-scoring too... Lacked flash and explosiveness... Was seen as only a playmaking PP-specialist first...

But high-motor, character, skating, hockey-IQ and offensive instincts have always been there...

Now he looks like a real gem after tapping into all that potential !

Looks like he has decent pro weight too already. Unlike Heponiemi who is still probably 150 lbs soaking wet.

Kid has always been built kinda solid… But yes, he has the pounds now !

His hockey-IQ and motor really are his greatest attributes, glad he developed everything around… But his effective positioning and strong forecheck were always there, that’s why he was very projectable as a pro !

Still don’t get how he fell so low !? What was he again, like a 6th rounder ? Majority of scouting services had him middle-to-late third-round at worst if I recall correctly…

Lack of flash/speed and an "ineffective" shot can do that to you it seems !

Loved that pick, and always thought it could be a home-run !!

Actually… Could be a pretty big draft for us with Alscher, Jansson, Vilmanis and Arnsby… They have legit pro-potential IMO… Even the goalie looks good last time I checked, can’t remember his name though…

Keep it going my Devine pick ! ;)

He was the fifth last pick of the 2022 draft. Rd 7
He isn't small, 5'11" 186lbs, Only going to grow at 20
Yes, his skating and shot Aren't great , but he goes to the net, That's a tough skill to teach. He can definitely hold his own in front.
Anything like his good vision, anticipate, and passing is bonus.

He rarely disappointed me when I watched Colorado play last year. I probably saw him play four or five times

2022 ddraft was very good for Florida. They'll get 2, maybe 3 prospects that make some real noise out of that draft, A+ from me for not having picks in the first 2 rounds.

Read some of his draft year evaluations and yeah seems like there were two major knocks on him: lack of explosiveness and shooting. But he was still listed as a C prospect by the nhl central scouting meaning a 4th-6th round pick. No idea why he fell. FC hockey and THW had him as high as a second-third rounder but I guess those are more like fan sites? And some write that he is a great skater (although lacking in explosiveness) so that's a positive too.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention , he didn't have a good year or world juniors in this draft yr
definitely hurt his stock.

How are we so bad with making home brew prospects into NHLers on our team? If you look past the 1rst round were horrible. In the past only Trocheck and Weegar quickly come to mind of prospects we picked after 1rst round that helped us significantly (Svehla was already old when we drafted him)

On the current roster we have 4 of our players who we drafted (that's counting Kulikov)

Do we have anyone in our prospect pool who will become an NHL? Sourdiff and Samo have neither even scored a goal this season in AHL. How about the D?

While Denisenko is playing great in Vegas farm team.

Good post.

Oh yeah there was Maxim Mamin. Like Denisenko, good skills, we blew it.

They had a few more mid to late picks develop but gave up on them too quickly or they didn't want to sign here.
Jonas Donoski they didn't qualify and Zach Hyman didn't want to sign a pro contract.

But yea, not the best track record, hopefully that changes with Zito/ownership putting more money into development areas.

Does Ludvig count as a successful development? Tippett?

Tippett. I was thinking guys who took the next step with us. Donskoi, Hyman never played for us. Tippett nevee got it together here. I think he could been great with Thachuk and Bennett tho. Crouse is a beast we threw away.

Zito really hasnt been able to make many picks yet as most been traded. For 30 years tho the record is pretty damn bad

I think this pretty much sums up what I was talking about. Outside the 1rst round players to make an impact in our history while playing for Panthers

Trocheck, Huselius, Booth, Weegar (really only Trocheck and Weegar had impact more than couple season)

Dadonov (2nd stint), Spacek, Warrener, Campbell had impact of sorts

That's not a good track record over 30 years. Thank god we've had better luck trading

Our last prospect to make the team and make an impact besides Lundell / Tippett (only players to have over 100 games with us since 2014).
This one shocked me a bit. Aaron Ekblad from 2014 draft

31 players draft by Panthers to have over 100 points all time in NHL. Panthers have had a total of 257 picks

Knight has let in 14 goals in his last 4 (3,3,5,3) only goal I didn’t like tonight was the 3rd. He gets sniped way too clean on his glove side. I remember him in college, he looks too much like Reimer with how low he is now. Someone changed his style for the worst.
