Knight has let in 14 goals in his last 4 (3,3,5,3) only goal I didn’t like tonight was the 3rd. He gets sniped way too clean on his glove side. I remember him in college, he looks too much like Reimer with how low he is now. Someone changed his style for the worst.
Yeah I used to be super high on the kid but his glove side got annihilated last year. But above all I hope his personal issues are behind him, whether he ends up being our future tendy or not.

I think he’ll figure it out. It’s gonna take some time though. He’s in the right place.

That’s altogether… out of this world…

I think he went 0+0 and -2, the weekend before... And only one point the weekend before that... While his team was still winning and scoring some goals... I was getting scared.

Now that's another great weekend for him, he is starting to heat up again, I think he could be the one who really makes it big... Not the Samo, Sourdif or others...

This kid sounds like the perfect fit for this team... Understands the forecheck incredibly well... Understands the man-advantage (PP) even better...

We really need that ! lol :D

Didn't know Dumi used to be a Florida panther for a minute:
While in his final season under contract with the Blue Jackets, Domi was dealt by the Blue Jackets at the NHL trade deadline to the Carolina Hurricanes via the Florida Panthers in a three team trade on March 21, 2022.

In that trade, Florida also received a 6 round pick in the 2022 draft:
The Toronto Maple Leafs' sixth-round pick went to the Florida Panthers as the result of a trade on March 21, 2022, that sent Tyler Inamoto to Columbus in exchange for Max Domi and this pick.

Long story short, Florida took Joshua Davies with that pick (rd 6, #186 '22).
He plays for the Portland Winter Hawks of the WHL, is absolutely killing this year. With 28 point in 19 games, including 9 points in his last 5, this hard hitting defensive specialist left winger is having a great season.

Knight 2 goals on 5 shots. Both are complete garbage in front coverage like 2 feet in front the net. That being said, he’s got to get it together.

Both goals.

EDIT: he’s now let in a third. I think Knight will be in the AHL next year too. For god sakes get the kid a goalie coach and get Kinnear out of here.

EDIT: Now 4

I know Knight has been really disappointing but I still believe in this kid.

This is the same guy who had a .908 sv% in 32 games as a 20 year old in 2021-22 and was 3rd in high danger unblocked sv% for goaltenders that played more than 20 games.

Even in 2022-23 when he wasn't quite as good. He had a .901 sv% but was still 12th in high danger unblocked sv%.

These are serviceable numbers for a goaltenders his age, and I'd say he was actually above average in 2021-22.

A lot of very good goaltenders, and even some elite ones don't even play in the NHL until their mid 20s, and Knight is only 22 right now.

I really think we should be patient with him, especially since we can afford to.

It’s absolutely a confidence thing right now. That being said his body language in net looks horrible. He is so low. It’s no wonder everyone is shooting high on him. I don’t even think it’s the glove necessarily that’s the problem. It’s the positioning of his glove. I think he’s gonna be in the AHL for 2 years at least. The only thing that sucks is his cap hit is terrible for us.

Seems like a very small sample size to judge Knight. Let's see at the end of the year.
It for sure is, but it’s some of the goals I’ve seen go in on him. He doesn’t look like he did in his first 2 years with us. Someone has changed his style a lot and it looks terrible.

I mean yes and no. He still carries a 3mil cap hit on the big squad. Which isn't a lot in the grand schemes of things but for a team that wants to compete that's more legit depth that could be on the team, or money to keep soon to be free agents.

I know the thought is to maybe trade Bob with retention/buyout, but the next biggest elephant in the room is Knight and his cap hit for someone who isn't dominating the AHL.

Anyone seen how Waeber is doing? His numbers look decent. Knight's regression really screws with our goalie plans for winning now. I know we still got Bob, but it'll be hard to keep Bob and keep the current roster intact.

If someone could help me with a Russian prospect the Panthers have, I'd appreciate it greatly. I don't speak a lick of Russian, and don't really understand hockey over there.

Kirill Gerasimyuk (rd 5, #152 '21) Is a Russian goalie having a good year.
He is currently playing in the MHL, which to my understanding is a Junior league to the KHL. From what I know, Russian leagues are low-scoring to begin with, so his good season stats might be a bit skewed.

Any information on him would be appreciated. I might check out some Russian hockey threads for more insight.

From the athleitc

12. Kirill Gerasimyuk, G, 19 (SKA-1946 St. Petersburg)

One of the top goaltenders in the MHL for the last three seasons, Gerasimyuk, who wasn’t even one of the 13 international goalies ranked by NHL Central Scouting in 2021, is actually one of the only goalies outside of the big two in the 2021 draft class (Jesper Wallstedt and Sebastian Cossa) that I would have selected. Despite a late-August birthday, Gerasimyuk had posted impressive age-adjusted results for a 17-year-old in both the MHL and VHL, regularly keeping his team in games. That strong play has continued since as well, and he now looks like he’s at a level that warrants graduating to the pro ranks full-time. Gerasimyuk’s a mid-sized goalie who plays a controlled game that relies on good tracking and anticipation to get to pucks early, and good hands that help him catch and block high-danger scoring chances. I like the poise he plays with in the net and had Russia participated in the world juniors this year, I think he would have been in the mix to be one of their three goalies. He’s on a long-term trajectory though still, so don’t be expecting him anytime soon.

Spencer Knight let in 1 goal tonight on 25 shots. Hopefully this helps his confidence. Goal was a breakdown up the middle where the guy just fired it blocker side uncontested.
