Charlotte needed this win badly, it snapped their 4 game losing streak.
They get a dominating, hopefully confidence building 5-0 W vs Wilkes-Barre (8th in Atlantic).

Carlsson got his 19th goal of the year and just keeps piling up the offense.

Denisenko, Heponiemi and Ludvig all had an assist.
Ludvig was paired with Carlsson on top line, not sure how long this has happened, may go back and see because Ludvig has a goal and 6 pts in his last 12 games.

Anywho, Charlotte now moves into a tie with Springfield (3rd) but will remain in 4th because of lower Reg wins.
They've created a 4 pt gap on 5th place Lehigh Valley, which the Checkers can pad as these two battle Friday night.

A 6 pt gap with 4 games left would all but secure a playoff spot for Charlotte.
All 3 teams mentioned have 5 games left.
I see Kinnunen also with 2 assists. His transition to the AHL seems to have gone well this year.

From what I have seen and according to their twitter feed Ludvig has been on the top pair for quite a while now. That's great to see as I think he will be a Gudas replacement in the log run. Love his game when healthy.

Ya it's good to see we have a somewhat abundance of offensive minded D but more eager to find the defensive D we need going forward.

For a rookie, he's had a hell of a year, nearly playing every game

Ya Ludvig is one of my fave prospects, has such a unique toolbox. He missed all last year so great to see him getting big minutes vs top competition in AHL
Hoping he gets valuable playoff experience along with others.

Sarnia lost to Guelph 5-4 last night in game 4. They still have a three game to one lead in the series. Vilmanis had an assist in the game.

As stated above, Michigan lost last night and their season is now over. Samoskevich (39gp 20g 23a 43pts) finished his sophomore year.
I'd expect him to return to Michigan for his junior year. He may surprise and turn pro, but I kind of doubt it. I like to see him return to Michigan next year and absolutely tear the Big Ten up!

I almsot assumed he would go pro but I wouldn’t hate it if he stayed another year.

Despite losing their past two games, the Checkers have clinched a spot.

@letsgrowcactus when did the playoff format change yet again?

I remember when I was following them more closely last season, I remember thinking the playoffs format was odd. Probably due to an uneven number of teams.

North Bay won Sunday afternoon, eliminating Mississauga in six games.
Schwindt scored a Beauty short-handed goal. I expect him to return to Mississauga next season for third OHL year.
