5-3 Giants now as Ostapchuk nets his 2nd of the period.

With 3 minute to go Sourdif still has the 2 assists and just 1 shot, but is up to +2. He's been involved in play (and was on the ice for this goal) but hasn't needed to be the sole driver of the offence like he has been at various other points in the season. He no longer has the goal-scoring lead since he's been passed by Hall, but he still holds the points lead on the team at 26, I believe 3 clear of Lysell (who has 4 points tonight)

And that's the game. 5-3 final, and Sourdif finishes with 2 assists and a +2.

I think he overall had a solid game. He was out there in all the situations including a lot of PK time (normal for him) and while he wasn't the focal point of the offence tonight he still skated hard and was involved in the play.

Thanks for letting me spam your thread for the night

Thanks for the updates! I am excited for Sourdif! Hopefully he becomes a beast when he joins the cats in the near future.

Hutsko's 5th goal of the year

Bowlby with his 2nd, from Juolevi with his first point of the year.

2-2 after 40mins.

Charlotte killed off 1:39 of a 5 on 3 PK, Fitzpatrick actually looking good, both goals not really his fault.
It's his first AHL game of the year.

Juolevi moves pretty good when need be, like his passing and offensive instincts in the first period and made a couple nice patient moves with the puck in DZ in the 2nd, stripping the puck a couple times.
Took a good 4-5 hits as well.

Don't know if his acceleration will be quick enough in NHL but it being his 2nd game of the year, he may speed up if he stays healthy. He's been hunched over late in shifts so his conditioning is getting tested.

Noel reminding me of Marchment a fair bit.
The size, the reach, the bee line towards the net and ability to own the board play.
He's a giant out there.

Denisenko with a couple nice plays in OZ, he is definitely shifty with the puck and his mobility.

Really love Hutsko, he's always skating and hounding the puck carrier, the PP runs through him on the one unit and he's producing good numbers so far in his rookie season.
5 goals and 12pts in 20 games.

Had to sign up to AHL.tv, the game was free to watch after that. No subscription required.
May be tempted to buy if they play better and go on a run.

How does OJ look?

He looked pretty decent on both sides of the puck. He's fluid once in motion but from a dead stop he's sluggish (only 2nd game) but he also was on PK and was tasked with a fair amount of DZ starts.

Worried he will get blown by near DZ blueline if opposition is full of speedy wingers.

His stretch passing, offensive IQ and ability to get the puck on net are the major standouts.
He kind of roams around in the DZ a bit too much for my liking but he does circle back to the crease area routinely.

He does have poise with the puck, I'd give tonight a 4 out of 5, set up one of the goals and played decent defense, no penalties and even +/-.

So the 3rd was back and forth, Fitzpatrick really held them in it early in 3rd and was bailed out by his post with minutes to go. Really feel he should have been 3rd star despite the 3 GA, none of them were his fault imo

Also he is rocking a FLA themed mask. Tried to take a pic of it but it's blurry AF.

Denisenko was hit pretty solid in 1st and Lappin was trying to get him to fight.
He picked up his 7th assist on the GWG from Schwindt.
His offense IQ is really sharp and he handles the puck well.
Just needs more games.

Noel picked up his 6th assist, had a late 3rd period breakaway that would have had it 5-3 but was denied.
He has a goal and 7pts in 18 games.
Marchment also has 1 goal and 7pts but in 10 games.

Just thought those two prospects remind me so much of their NHL counterparts.

Speaking of Schwindt, his 8th and team leading goal is the GWG.
He had a secondary assist on Dalpes ENG to make it a 5-3 final

Schwindt is legit, he is a fluid skater, has handles and can score.
I'll say it again, he's a blend of Lundell and Luostarinen.
C is stocked for next 6-7 years.

Schwindt has 8 goals and 11pts in 20 games.
Luostarinen has 7 goals and 8pts in 20 games. Both are stapled to the bottom 6C role and scoring.

The win moves Charlotte to 9-9-2, their game tomorrow is canceled but they play Sunday

No points tonight for Sourdif as the Giants handed the Kamloops Blazers just their 3rd loss of the season so far (20 games) by a 3-1 score.

I thought he played a solid game though. More physical than I've seen him be the last little while. He also generated a few good scoring chances.

Ah, that makes sense. Yeah I might buy a package later in the season as well, I just don't have the time to watch right now.

Blue Jay Way..
Krygier on Michigan State, scored a goal as they doubled Penn State in the Big Ten match up. Krygier isn't much of a offensive defenseman, but he does have a four-game point streak going (2G-3A.)
This is his senior year at Michigan State, so hopefully he can make Charlotte next year. He is by far having his best offensive season thus far in his collegiate career (3-3-6 18GP)

Were you impressed by Schwindt at all?
EDIT: Nvm, i didn't read through the whole thread. I see your comments now.

This is really exciting. We already have the best center depth in the league, and it sounds like that will continue even after Acciari and Thornton walk. I wonder if they'd start Schwindt as a 1C next year? I don't believe we're supposed to share affiliates with Seattle past this season, and there's not gonna be a center spot for Schwindt with the big club until injuries hit.

Does anybody who regularly watches our AHL team have an opinion on how Carlsson looked down there?

It will interesting to see who gets promoted or how the lines look when SEA isn't part of the team.
Someone else can do the 2 team thingy next year.

I'd be shocked if Kinnear is still coaching the team next year if they miss this year, the 3rd and 4th spot in their division is wide open for the taking.

Would like them to give Schwindt the 2C role to up his offense role and also still allows him to shine defensively

3 points tonight for Sourdif (all assists) as the Giants took down the US division leading Everett Silvertips 6-5. This was just Everett's 2nd regulation loss this season.

Sorry, I don't know more than that. I was at a game between the Sharks and Canucks' AHL teams.
