whats your opinion on Denisenko's development? his stats just seem to be okay in the AHL. but nothing more ... :-(

He'll be fine offensively, he has the skill to be a line driving winger, he does like the puck on his stick, but if he actually puts the work in and takes the next step to reach that level is another question.

He's used on the PP a fair bit in Charlotte.
His defensive game needs to consistently be focused on and that may be the thing that keeps him in AHL the rest of this year and next.

Don't see a path for him on the Panthers in that time frame, so I'm hoping he will be okay with that and continue to work on the 200ft game.

He'll be a decent complimentary winger and dont have any doubts of him becoming a NHL winger but it won't be anytime soon in FLA.

The Charlotte Checkers recently had two sets of games against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. I would have liked to share inside Player information with y'all, but my cousin suffered a fractured kneecap at the start of October, expected back early December. He is determined to come back early, and so far doing so good.

Was gonna ask you about him, didn't see him in their lineup the couple games they played against Charlotte.

Damn, tough break, have dislocated my kneecap in lacrosse but can't imagine the pain of a fractured one?
Hopefully he heals up sooner than later.

It was kind of a freak play. He was going off for a change, and another player jumped on early. They hit skate blades, and Mason fell into the open door on the bench, fracturing his kneecap.
Real tough luck if you ask me.

At least he's young so those bones heal quicker.
That's not a bad timeline as well, can still get a good amount of games in from December/January on.

Ludvig still out with his injury as well.

Samoskevich with a PPG and an assist in last night's game against a not very good Niagara team in a non-conference game.
PPG:
A:

Lindmark
played his second game for Wisconsin after missing about a month with an injury. An underwhelming season for him so far, as he only has one goal in eight games. He is winning faceoffs at a 62% clip though. I kind of hoped to see more from him this year, but so far it seems like this season has been derailed by injuries.

Samoskevich with an assist on the first goal of the game (W 4-1.) Again, Michigan was playing a not very good Niagara team (non conference game.)

Berger with a PPA in last night's non-conference game against Colgate (W 6-1), who has an almost identical record to UConn. I would post the Twitter video of the goal, but he is nowhere to be seen in the video.
I imagine it was one of those defenseman give up the puck in his own Zone and then go for a change kind of assist.
He has a goal and an assist in eight games this year. He is not a very offensive defenseman, but he isn't even keeping up to his pace from the last couple years.

If anyone wants some late night hockey and a shot to watch Sourdif, the Vancouver Giants @ Kelowna Rockets game tonight at 10pm ET/7pm PT is the CHL's Game of the Week, which means it's available to watch for free on the CHL website's streaming platform.

I think this is a direct link to where the feed will be:

https://watch.chl.ca/details/live_event/f103e420-51fd-11ec-af98-4b52539cae14

If not just start from watch.chl.ca and find the game from there (possibly by filtering down to just WHL games)

I'm going to try and watch it if I'm free. And I don't know what your board's policy is on treating these info threads like pseudo-GDTs for prospect games is, but if that's kosher I may just post comments, observations and conversation live during the game if I do end up able to watch. If anyone's ever hung out in a Sharks GDT before and seen me post, usually that sort of material is like 30% comments and opinions on play, 15% stating the obvious (the basic "nice goal" or "that wasn't a penalty" type stuff) and 55% irreverent sarcasm.

Also of little relevance to you guys but interesting to note for tonight's game: I think Giants head coach Michael Dyck is away from the team for the next little bit for some national U18 commitments, so the Giants have invited NHLer Brent Seabrook to serve as an interim guest assistant coach during that time, starting tonight.

We want second by second updates or else we hunt you down!!
Saw the news about Seabrook which should only help their defense.

Looks like Sourdif will be forced to RW for WJC? Saw the depth chart mock ups online.

I don't mind him learning both positions and being versatile in his draft+ development years, he may be shifted to wing, if our C depth stays strong in FLA. Barkov and Lundell are likely here for the next 7-8yrs.

Thanks again for the updates, we do appreciate it!

Him being a RW might also be something of a comfort thing. He played a lot on the wing for the Giants before this season. So with Canada usually having strong center depth they might've decided that it was easier for him to shift over to a position he's played before rather than force someone else out of position.

I just went to turn on the Giants/Rockets game and while it appears the game is free (as of right now I have just a black screen for the feed, so I have no idea if it will turn on in 5 minutes or so), you do need to make an account for the CHL streaming service. So if anyone else intends to watch, give yourself a couple extra minutes to sign up if you don't have an account already.

EDIT: also if you do watch the game, go to the audio options menu on the player and in the language settings select the second "English" listing to get the Giants radio feed instead of the Kelowna one. The quality is... less good (it's quite peaky).

Though right now I have no video for some reason.

EDIT: Seems like for me at least the player doesn't like Chrome. Switched to Firefox and we're fine now (feed's a little jittery, but at least there's video. Also it's the CHL, they don't exactly have elite broadcast production abilities.)

Sourdif playing on the 2nd line on the RW with Fabian Lysell (Bos '21 1st) and an undrafted player named Ty Thorpe (who is a solid jr player if not one with NHL potential)

Also in the Giants lineup with NHL rights are Zack Ostapchuk (Ott '21 2nd rounder. playing 1C), Alex Cotton (Det '20 5th, playing 2nd pair RD) and Jesper Vikman (VGK '20 5th, starting G).

Oh, and not an NHL prospect, but there's also Colton Langkow, son of former NHL Daymond Langkow.

Giants Goal!

Lysell scores on the PP to give Vancouver a 1-0 lead. Sourdif with the primary assist. That extends his point streak to 6 games.

Lysell again puts the Giants up 2-0. Sourdif collects the 2nd assist on this one as he set up the point shot that was knocked in by Lysell on the rebound.

And that's the end of period 1. So through 20 minutes Sourdif has 2 assists, is a +1 and has one shot on goal. I thought he and the whole Giants lineup looked pretty good, taking the attack to the Rockets for most of the period.

Game's tied up at 2 late in the 2nd after a defensive breakdown and then later on during a Rockets PP. Sourdif was on the ice for the 2nd goal but I'm not blaming him for any of it. It's also been a steady parade to the box for Vancouver during this period.

Giants take the lead again. No Sourdif involvement in this goal, though its scorer, Adam Hall, has just taken over the team goal-scoring lead from Justin by recording his 9th of the season.

EDIT: end of the 2nd with the Giants holding the 3-2 lead. They're being outshot like 30-16 though.

Giants take the lead back as Zack Ostapchuk bangs in a rebound to make it 4-3 on the PP

Sourdif on the ice with that unit, but no assist for the goal.
