This is honestly worth more than making a trade. What this team has been missing is the bond that our 2019 had with each other and now that bond is building again and I think its a good idea not to trade players and hurt that.

Looks like the room truly has made the decision for Army. Binner made a direct statement to the media about this room's desire to battle for each other and it sounds like Schenn is exercising trade protection to stay. This is exactly the type of leadership you want when you talk about building good locker room culture and avoiding a loser mentality.

Call it playoff experience, or playing meaningful games, or whatever. But every young guy in the room just got a clear lesson about the pride and confidence you need to have to be a winner in this league.

Hard to be mad.

Less than 0% chance Schenn blocked a trade to Toronto because he believes so much in this team. That’s public relations speak and nothing else.

He’s settled here with a young family. There’s next to no media pressure.

I’m disappointed he blocked but not surprised. It’s Army’s fault as usual for handing out NTC’s like candy.

That's craziness though. Why compound your stupidity? I like Kyrou, but him and Necas are pretty comparable. So you're gonna trade Necas + Drury + Nikishin for Kyrou and a couple late, future 1sts? That's more fleeced than they already were.
Oh I agree, it wouldn't be the smarted move for them. But they have to be feeling pretty poorly about their Cup chances after today.

What's the source of the info leading us to believe that Schenn blocked a trade to Toronto?

Sounds like maybe Middlestadt is off the board for Coyle.

More land mines dodged as far as people I’m not super interested in us ever getting.

Who cares? Our team is finally playing like a team and I would prefer not to rip their captain away as soon as they look like a team that not embarrassing to watch

If we play like we did since Colorado we can win the cup.

I can say that with a straight face all day. I’d also say it’s very unlikely, but not to the degree it’s not a worthwhile pursuit. Nobody is handed wins and all it takes are some bounces or injuries to change situations.

We’ve been playing the brand of winning hockey that our team comp requires. It is functionally impossible to play against when the opposition isn’t at your level. Later, when they are at your level, if we get in and everybodies gaps are tight, it’s a crapshoot. It may be a crapshoot tilted in our opponents favor but that is no guarantee.

We went from literally last to first and won a cup. Other teams had way better players. Other teams bought at the deadline. We’re far from last now. It’s not a thing to base some strong hope on but our franchise is the proof that the ticket to the dance is all you need. Extra credit the guy who backstopped the last one is still here.

Standing pat is such a bad decision. Either supplement the team to try and make a run, or take advantage of the sellers market for your UFA’s. Hell even do both..
Disagree, I think it is the smart move at this point. If Schenn isn't waiving his NTC what could you realistically sell that moves the needle at all? No point in wasting assets and hampering the retool for a band aid fix when you aren't going to come close to replacing Parayko. If there was a deal out there for a younger player with term available that makes sense they would have pulled the trigger

Mid players have been getting pretty decent returns. We could’ve gotten assets for Suter, Faksa, etc.

Not a fan of standing pat at this point. We have a big hole on the right side. Sell a bit and use it to pay for the stop gap. Better yet sell some futures and find a long term solution. Clock is almost up though.

I think it's highly possible they slip quite a bit in the standings with Colt out so all you tank fans can still have a chance to rejoice. We all saw how they played when Colt was out vs. Colorado. I see no reason to add, but I can see why they've seen enough from the team not to sell off pieces.

I'm more upset that we haven't been able to use our cap space to get assets back.

id imagine if those guys go they’re both the kind that will be last minute deals. Kinda both guys are far down the pecking order of available players. The rest kinda have to be dealt to get to them.

Maybe, I am sure if anyone was offering something of substance for those guys they would be moved. Your realistically looking at a 3rd rounder return as best case scenario, not a whole lot of incentive to do that IMO.

This is what I was hoping they would do as well. But there have to be deals where a third team is necessary and there just havent been any of those yet today

Cody Glass just got a third rounder lol you’d probably be able to get a 2nd

30 minutes remain.

I made the let’s rent a Boesser joke but what if he’s super cheap? I don’t want to resign him….or pay a first. Or a second. Or a first equivalent prospect.

If he’s even cheaper than that? If he’s a third equivalent?
