They are building around Brady. He will only be dealt if he lets them know he wants to leave.
I'm sort of assuming he does what his dad and brother did, and will want to chase money in a different market. Like his brother, I think we'll be on a shortlist, but we'll have no advantage on other teams on that shortlist. I'd also assume he'd value playing with his brother over playing in St. Louis, so Florida would have the advantage.

Matthew didn't chase money. He picked where he wanted to go, but he didn't get every last $. Brady is going to get paid wherever he plays; I suspect that it's more likely he either stays in Ottawa (if he thinks they can win) or joins his brother in Florida than he decides to play in St. Louis.

That last line is a bit ridiculous. Every fan base in the league would love to have Brady on their team regardless of his last name. Kyrou scores points but is as vanilla as they come. He doesn't have the personality to be a team leader and I could count on one hand the number of times I've seen him show fire or passion on the ice. If this team lacks drive and leadership than upgrading from Kyrou to Brady would go a long way in addressing that.

That being said, I'm not sure I'd trade Kyrou, Bolduc and a first for Brady. Kyrou + Bolduc OR a first absolutely and then add smaller pieces if necessary.

I don't want Brady even with the Tkachuk name. His next contract will be ridiculous for what he brings. No Thank you. I'll take him for next season with low acquisition cost (because I don't want to pay a lot for just next season). But I think he'll become a negative value asset when someone pays him $10+ for his intangibles like texting Bennett to stage a fake fight in the 4 nations,

All the stuff you said about Kyrou is absolute BS, so not even addressing it. But Brady has not done anything to address Ottawa's drive and leadership. They are a more talented team, and they are 5 points ahead of us.

Maybe chase money isn't the right way to put it, but I don't see Brady staying in the Ottawa market is simply my point. Whether it's to move to an improved team, bigger contract, bigger market, no tax state, play with brother, get out of Canada, I think he moves on.

Yeah, I'd agree that Tkachuk had other motivations than money, I think wanting to be in the States and on an improved team were bigger factors. If I recall correctly, his list was also no tax states and St. Louis, I remember Dallas and/or Nashville being teams, but can't remember exactly.

If I'm a betting man, I'd put money on him going to Florida.

If I’m a betting man, he goes to FLA. There is a proposal in MO right now to eliminate income tax by 2027. No clue if it passes or not, but it would give us a slight advantage with future UFAs. I love what BT brings to the table, but I’m a realist and just don’t see us acquiring or signing him, mainly due to him, not us.

I can see where you're coming from, but man, that would be a colossal disappointment if this team let not one but two Tkachuk brothers go elsewhere when the cap is increasing the way it is.

I wonder what we could get for Parayko right now. I feel like some contending team might give up a crazy package for him.

I'm not sure of their ages but I think they are around 25/26? I wouldn't mind throwing a couiple 12/m matching offers at both of them but I think when they are available they will be to old.

Brady will be 28, while Matthew will be 32. Maybe throw that offer at Brady given the higher cap, but no way on MT. That would be worse than the awful contract they just gave Buch.

Parayko is the one veteran player that I would like to see us hold on to through a sell off. Someone to mentor a new young defensive core. That being said if a team came around with the strong offer we would be a fool not to consider it. I would want a young, high potential RHD, player or prospect as the main piece coming back.

I’ve been thinking about this with all the articles and threads that mention Parayko. Most are crazy offers that are extremely one-sided for the Blues. With that in mind, would you hang up the phone if the deal were:

To STL: Dawson Mercer, Simon Necec, 2025 2nd and 2026 1st
To NJ: Parayko and Snuggerud

I would not do that deal because of the inclusion of Snuggerud. He is the best pure goal scoring prospect we have and badly need at the NHL level. I am not going to say all prospects are off limits but to me he is part of the core 3 that I really don't want to trade (Snuggy, Dvorsky and Lindstein). I know Lindstein being listed will raise some eyebrows but I have him rated higher than most.

I do wonder if their is a deal to made involving Buchnevich and Nemec though? New Jersey really seems to want to add a forward.

Who is then New Jersey's 7th d man? They already have Hughes, Hamilton, Pesce, Dillon, Kovacevic, Siegenthaler. Doesn't seem like a very good destination. The issue is I think if you cut out Mercer and Snuggerud that's sort of the return I would be looking at if we were considering moving Parayko. Anything short of a young high end Right Shot D and we're putting ourselves in serious jeopardy of pushing our timeframe back further. I love our prospects, but we shouldn't be counting on anyone to make the roster from our defensive group in the next 2-3 years save some cup of coffee stints or some of the older guys already in Springfield getting some ice time on the bottom pairing.

There was an article I read where NJ is looking for a forward and Army is looking to dump an $8 million salary. Army never does his business in the press, so I wonder if true or not. The article in question mentioned that NJ should be looking at Kyrou.

I'd have minimal interest in that Jersey deal. While I would love to get Nemec, the stock of him and Mercer are trending down. I don't see Jersey having interest in Parayko with Hamilton and Pesce on the right, and I'm not moving Snuggerud.

I will drive Buchnevich to the airport in 2 feet of snow in a deal around Nemec. Getting rid of that contract is ideal.

Seems kind of weird to just say an 8 mill contract when we only have 3 and only one of them sucks ass. Might as well just say Buchnevich.
