A weird twist to the schedule. SMU is at UdeM on Wed and at UNB on Sat, while ACA is UNB/UdeM on the "normal" Fri/Sat.
Very strange scheduling for SMU. I assume there is a reason as this forces them to make two trips to NB this week.

As an aside, if SMU was making two trips anyways, it’s too bad the UNB game wasn’t scheduled for Sunday afternoon instead. The Fredericton Santa Clause parade is Saturday at 5PM so I can’t see the attendance being great. Any of us with kids know hockey isn’t taking priority over the big man lol.

Timbit should know if something is happening at JLL on Friday.

UNB vs SMU was a game of two halves. Huskies dominated until halfway through the second. The Reds then tied it up on the PP and then scored two goals in eight seconds 4x4. They stepped on the gas after that.

If the Huskies beat the Axemen on Wednesday there will be a three way tie for second.

I was at the DAL-UPEI game last night. It started out to be a decent game between 2 "similarly" matched teams. Down 1-0 after 1, DAL made a turnover at their blue line resulting in a UPEI goal. DAL scored their lone goal off a UPEI turnover and then proceeded to give up 2 SH goals off of turnovers.

If not for the mistakes, DAL played a good game.
There was a female ref in the game and she did a very good job.
I watched a few clips this morning on Xwitter and while I don't want to knock the Play-by-Play guy, his delivery was not very good.

I'm off to the Valley Wed night with some of the Hot Stove Lounge crew to watch SMU-ACA.

Oh man. Caught some of the game and was thinking the same thing, Never heard him before.
He could have used a color commentator.

Shauna Neary...who is also hired as a referee in the PWHL

I think the problem with the AUS the last few years is there hasn’t been a clear-cut number two team. The middle five teams are all close enough that they all beat up on one another…no one has been able to separate themselves from that pack. The only team besides UNB to crack 20 wins in the last five seasons was SMU in 2022-23.

Not sure if that actually qualifies as a problem...makes for a lot of good hockey

Computer generated national rankings get no eyeball time from me. Action on the ice does get eyeball time.

I agree. I doesn't matter where you're ranked, you still have to win games on the ice.

Absolutely agree…maybe “problem” wasn’t the correct term. Perhaps I should’ve said I think that kind of parity is the reason the AUS hasn’t typically had more than one-to-two teams ranked in recent years

Decent game last night at ACA. The Axe scored 1st on the PP and led 1-0 after one. ACA Dominated play for a good portion of the period outshooting SMU 8-1 at one point.
SMU got 2 back with Dunkley and Allison from a nice feed from Gentile, who's been a great fit for SMU.
ACA tied the game with a screen shot from Shortall and Dunkley getting his 2nd of the game to put SMU up by 1.
2 goals (PP and SH) 5 minutes apart by Johnson put SMU up 5-2 until Burns scored on the PP.
Gentile with the EN goal made the final 6-3.
West was solid in goal for SMU, especially in the 1st period but ACA missed 2 "open net" chances.
Couture made several good stops to keep his team in it thru 2 periods.
All in all, an entertaining game. Worth the trip plus I got to go to Joes.

So both first place and last place are settled. A three way tie for second. Fifth and sixth place could flip places by the end of the season.

Unless you mean the first half, neither are settled. There's 24 points available in the 2nd half.

I meant UNB is cemented in first and Dal is cemented in last. In between is up for grabs. Most importantly the second place first round bye.

Cemented in first, cemented in last... what are you talking about?
