Brady Johnson with the natural Hattie and SMU gets a 6-4 win on the Island. Henry and Pearson in the lineup for UPEI and figured in 2 goals.
A few 10's handed out after Gentile scores the EN goal at 19:35. Typical UPEI game.

Poor DAL gets smoked at UNB 10-2. 1 minor penalty to each team. Contrast that with the UPEI game.

I’ve got nothing but respect for Dal , I have a hard time not losing my cool in a 10-2 game on a Thursday night at 10:30pm with 2 wives in attendance ..

Check out the battle for second. STFX, SMU and Moncton in a dog race for that first round bye. It is the only race left in the AUS with first and the last playoff spot locked up.

Further to the SMU-UPEI game, I saw this clip on Xwitter of Gentile's 2nd EN goal where a UPEI player (Cohen) takes a 2-handed chop at his ankle and breaks his stick.

Tough road trip for SFX and even tougher for DAL.

UPEI comes up empty, Home and Away. Solid win for ACA after the loss at SMU.

Pencil in a UNB win in the makeup game Tuesday.

Despite 2 losses, SFX is just 2 behind SMU and UdeM.

SFX has a couple of "winnable" games this week with DAL and UPEI coming to town.

SMU and ACA have the NB road trip next weekend and then UNB/UdeM visit SFX.

I can lock in 3 spots - UNB #1, DAL #7 and UPEI #6. ACA at #5 now and need a good run to catch SFX as they only play them 1 more time. I'm seeing UdeM in #2 unless they fall hard. It would be a tougher series, but I'd like SMU/ACA so I can watch at both rinks.

There will be much more clarity after Feb 9, or maybe not.

Stating the obvious...but what an underwelming start to the second half (and really the season so far imo) for UPEI. One win since the break + last win against any team other than DAL came Nov 9 vs X. I get this 'hard to play/out work' mentality thing they go for, but they play a very undisciplined style with little to no fire power to lean on. I just can't see it materializing into anything.

Can see it potentially getting pretty ugly for them tomorrow at UNB. Charlottetown to Freddy is a decent drive on the best of days. A rare Tuesday night in January...no thanks lol

Not to say "I told you so", but I said that UPEI would win 1 game (DAL) during FISU and UNB would not lose.
UNB had to go to OT at ACA, but it's still a win.

To your point, I agree 100%. They're a "better" team than DAL and should do better, but the Goon Squad style doesn't work. This is basically the same team from last year who surprised a lot of people, including me with their play with a ton of 1st year guys.

Just checked for fun (and because I don't feel like doing any actualy work, though I suppose in my case it could count as "work") last year they had 552 PIM's in 30 games. They are up to 624 right now with still 7 games to play. Next closest team this year is Acadia with 526 and SMU with 398.

Big props to DAL for being the least penalized team this year so far.

I didn't realize that ACA had that many PIMs. I should have looked that up before I made my Goon Squad comment. Would have been embarrassing if UPEI was lowest. :(

I think Acadia's season total is inflated by games against UPEI, those games average 40 pim's per team.

In Acadia's non-UPEI games the average pim per game is 18 Acadia and 14 for the opposition, which includes a fairly high total from one altercation Nov 8 vs UdM and Nov 29 where there were some misconducts @ UNB

UNB vs UPEI is skewed by the Nov 2 game where UPEI took misconducts in the 3rd when the score was out of hand. The other 2 games the pims per side were only 5-6 apart

I just saw Ben Allison was given a one game suspension after picking up a CFB major on Friday night against UPEI. So the Huskies will be without one of their best players Friday night against UNB.

I also just realized him and St. FX’s Sam Allison are brothers…somehow never noticed that before.
