That's not what I heard.
Was watching TSN and they didn’t really have a strong opinion either way.

Not sure why this call is such a debate. The only possibly arguable part is that he got pushed but he was already in the crease and it was one-handed and more towards out of the crease than in.

Don’t think that’s a strong argument and otherwise it really isn’t debatable. He’s standing in the crease and blocks him from getting over. Like there was physical contact stopping him as he tries to slide over.

What announcer and what rule?
NHL Network and they read the IIHF rule.

It doesn’t look like the goalie is impeded by me. The goalie is stretching his leg out and the US player being there didn’t change his positioning or ability to make the save at all; there is almost no contact and none that appears to impede the goalie.

IIHF 69.1 section 2:

"Goals should be disallowed only if:

(II) an attacking Player initiates intentional or deliberate contact with a Goalkeeper, inside or outside of their Goal Crease. “Incidental contact” with a Goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the Goal Crease, provided the attacking Player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact."

What do you mean he wasn’t impeded?! He was sliding over and as he was doing that ran into the US player. There is very clearly contact that stops him as he slides over.

When outside of the crease lol. It was in the crease and he made no effort whatsoever to avoid it.

You quoted a rule saying incidental contact is allowed outside of the crease.

He’s stretching his leg out which causes his upper body to flip forward as he tries to stretch his leg more. He doesn’t get over more or less because of any contact that he causes.

He wasn’t just stretching tho. He was sliding over and ran into the USA player as he did so.

No way that 2nd one should count. 1st one was borderline but I think it should have.

Officiating has actually been excellent in this tournament, breath of fresh air compared with the NHL.
Amazing yet strange how I feel the complete opposite on the 2 goal calls.

Hughes could have 2-3 points already. I've said that a lot this tournament but it's true. Many of his teammates whiffed on his passes caught posts, etc. I've liked his tournament, he had a rough 2nd period to start, but he's been fine since then.

Luke Hughes is nasty.
That feed to keep the play in the zone was very good.
