Woot, glad that didn't have to go to shootout. Good to see the Czechs (and Slovaks) back in this tournament.

Hopefully work doesn't mind me having the USA/Canada game in the "background."

I’d prefer actual opium since I’ve already accepted that Jiricek is flat out better right now.

Can I not give a shit? Is that an option, or is this pretend competition a requirement in everyone’s head?

Can I also think that describing one comment as the collective thoughts of “the entirety of this board” is wildly over the top melodramatic at best? Because it is.

It's gonna be a thing until their careers are over lol.

Again, I personally don’t give a shit after a draft is done. I’ll examine our draft afterwards but I don’t fixate on every good player taken after ours.

I also don’t like rando contrarians popping in and projecting broad simplistic takes on the entire board.

Intentionally melodramatic, yes.
Sweeping generalization, yes.

Either you dislike the main board koolaid drinkers or you don’t. I fall in the former category and I don’t like the blind preference to our prospects. The scouts win some and lose some. As of today we haven’t won the 2022 #2 pick. I hope that changes as Nemec looks like he’ll be a solid player.

It's been pretty clear months before the draft, and that's fine. We all have our favorites.

Rando contrarians vs rando koolaid drinkers! Make it a tournament!

Lol the worst thing about the WJC's is the self loathing about prospects who haven't done much at the NHL level. Last time Jiricek was in the NHL, he was getting ally oop'd on by Miles Wood for a goal.

Good thing no one expected to win the #2 pick 6 months after the draft. There was no situation where we would’ve. Unless maybe Nemec was already leading the NHL in points or something crazy.

The longer you pay attention to drafts, the more you realize no one knows very much a year or two out. You don’t make picks for who will be better at age 19. There’s likely a player no one is talking about right now that will be the Jason Roberson of that draft.

It kind of irks me how we're constantly being told here that Nemec has all these flaws and that Jiricek is this supposedly perfect prospect. I don't get that sense either way watching games and tape, before and after the draft.

Both of these guys are very good in many aspects and not so much yet in others. It very much looks like a case of what you prefer in D-men decides who you prefer between the 2.
