Know it was mentioned on the last page, but this is awesome to see. Future top pairing for the next decade plus? Please and thank you!

With Casey and Vilen as well that could be pleasant surprises . Oh and Mukhamadoulin and Bahl and Okhotiuk and …

Only piss-off is passing on Svozil . But I guess multiple teams did multiple times so I don’t feel as bad

so, a quick look at the rosters on the IIHF website and I see that VIlen is now listed at 6'2" and 196 lbs. Someone had posted that Vilen looked bigger to their eyes and he clearly has grown a bit since his original elite prospects listing.

Almost a brutal turnover turns into a really nice goal for the Czechs to tie it.

And the Czechs tie it! What a game!

How do you feel about Hauser? I've been fairly impressed by him, he's not the fastest, although not slow, but he brings a physical element and he makes nice plays. Maybe there's something there?
He looks like an AHL player right now to my eyes. Smart and instinctive and hits whenever he can. Decent shot. He needs to improve his pace but he has time. Great pick at 141.

Jiricek with some Severson giveaways on the last shift.

I think he needs to improve his skating. His positioning looks good and he has decent puck skills, but the league is very much a skating league now.

Agreed. As @My3Sons said though, good value pick in the 5th round.
He's fun to watch in this tournament. Can certainly keep up with the pace playing with an against the best players in the world from his age cohort. Maybe a bit of a pre-knee injury Talvitie vibe? Some guys just look comfortable despite not being fleet of foot.

What a joke. Still no Casey

Don't have much time to write today, but this line-up is a huge mistake by USA Head Coach Rand Pecknold. No accountibility whatsoever -- how is Kenny Connors in the line-up after his awful penalty which arguably cost the Americans the game vs. Slovakia? 2/3 of the blueline has been outplayed by Latvia and caved in by Slovakia -- how are the mightily struggling quartet of Mittlestadt, Ufko, Peart and Hutson all in the line-up while a far superior defender in Seamus Casey sits?

I'm frustrated by a head coach who refuses to admit his initial instincts were wrong and make adjustments. Pecknold does not even seem to be shaking up the line combinations. I'd at least flip Chaz Lucius and Logan Cooley as the top two centers -- Lucius has been solid while Cooley has been just completely ineffective.

USA should still beat the Swiss, but there's a bit of tunnel-vision going on here at the top. Let's hope Pecknold's instincts are somehow right and Team USA clicks in this game.

Cooley has been very disappointing
Cooley's over reliance on his puck skills has to make one question his in-game awareness at this point. It's downright disturbing how many open teammates he's missed in order to try to make fancy moves around opposing defenders only to giveaway the puck. I'd love to say his ineffectiveness has been a health issue, but 90% of his -- numerous -- blunders have been mental errors and general poor decision-making with the puck.

Casey isn't going to play unless someone is injured and he knows that.

He is basically with the team in preparation for next year's tournament; where he will likely step into a larger role.

The bashing of Cooley has been way off base. That line has been dominant all tournament and that is the US' top line. They're not breaking them up.

Reminds me of the criticism Alex Turcotte received during the 2021 tournament; when America eventually won gold.
