US is pressing and they are cheating for offense. Can't be surprised that Luke would be lower in the offensive zone.

Try rooting for Latvia lol. I still can’t believe they actually won against the Czechs in August though, if only fans were there.

I always root for Latvians(no matter how they act with us). They are very small country but always trying to play hard no matter against whom.

While I agree that Cooley hasn’t been anything spectacular in this tournament he has been better than Gauthier IMO. Gauthier is such an average and in exciting player and doesn’t look like a top 10 pick at all. Big guy with a good but not great shot, who’s basically average at everything else. Cooley has some nice skill and needs to figure out how to do better with it. Has much more potential than Gauthier.

He created a couple good chances in the offensive zone over the previous 5 minutes and was controlling play really well in the offensive zone for that period. That's mainly what I was referring to. He'd been basically a non factor prior to that. His defensive ability has been terrible.

Yup. Offensively, he's all-around elite. His weakness in his defense, and I suspect that with proper NHL coaching and framework, he'll become at least ok.

US couldn't get it together when they were challenged by a team pushing hard and playing for each other. I'd be curious what their internal dynamics are. Their lame response to being beaten is sad.

Add in Casey and those 5 couldnt hold the jockstraps of Merrill/Santini/Gelinas/Severson/Larsson. The Devils defense is doomed with these bums.

Nothing changed for me from draft days, I liked Gauthier more.

Look at what was happened right now. Hughes made it all and Cooley... and after they missed. Hughes could play better but he tryied to catch from the back.

I cant say Cooley wasn`t in my top-10. But like I said before "as a Devils fan I would not draft Cooley and prefer different players on the draft in any moment on the draft". As a GM of any team in Vacuum I would draft him in top-10, as a Devils GM I would prefer to draft other players.

I need to watch more Czech games before saying Kulich is better\on the level with Cooley.

Jiri Kulich has been absolutely, stunningly phenomenal through two games. His elite combination of IQ and compete reminds me of Dawson Mercer, as does his positional and situational versatility. He's going to be a stud for Buffalo, and I'd go so far as to say he might be the Sabres' gem of a 2022 draft class which also included Savoie and Ostlund.

Gauthier is going to be a superstar for Philly. As I liked to say last year, he's like the Lost Tkachuk Brother. Heck of a prospect.

Cooley was in my top 10 last year -- I had him at #5 -- but I'm not sure I'd take him so high anymore. He's really good at utilizing his teammates on the man advantage, but not so much on 5x5.

Think Nemec should get a 3rd assist on the empty netter although I’m not sure they gave it to him at first. Pretty good game overall. Some nice passing, good defensive stick but also some stuff to clean up and work on.

Definitely looked like he knocked the puck into the corner on replay but they didn’t give him one
