Over-the-top personal insults question his character/professionalism : not fair.

I'm not saying that any criticism of Guerrero is racist. Clearly not. But there has been a consistent undercurrent here in a segment of this fanbase who get absolutely triggered by Caribbean players having fun and if you're raging about him being an unprofessional fat slob because he untucks his shirt after wins or is joking around in the dugout sometimes, or if you think it's impossible that he made a smart play and a white player must have told him what to do .... ehhhhhh. You might want to look at what's informing your opinions.

I get it bud. It’s tiring to see. I actually went the opposite way and said I want him to put the weight back on because his bay was elite when he was bigger lol

I said it in my last post not the one you responded to that it’s the easy thing to look at as the issue. It applied to Kirk and Manoah as well. They are all badly underperforming for different reasons and the common denominator between them is their weight. If they were all playing like they could no one would say a second word about it I’m sure. It’s the easy target for them to say they aren’t playing well. They are professional athletes but don’t have the stereotypical athletes build so it’s laziness and lack of caring. It’s nothing more than frustration with Vladdy watching what were told was going to be an elite power hitter and bat be nothing of the kind. This season he’s a good bat and that’s not what he’s supposed to be. But all told the weight is the assumption of the issue like Ms assuming everyone that says something negative is racist.

Guerrero just won a Gold Glove and is an athletic guy who is stealing some bases, doing superman slides, etc.

His weight is not a problem. He's just a naturally big guy. And he's smaller than he was 3-4 years ago.

I don’t know what you’re talking about in that last part. Maybe I’ve missed something so please enlighten me. What play did Vladdy make that was good that someone Even remotely alluded to it must have come from a white guys mind? That I have not seen once in here. I’m sure the mods would deal with any racist garbage quickly. Calling someone overweight in a baseball forum does not coincide with racism. My last response to Eyedea talks to the weight thing more. The fact that you are surprised that people would say crass things online is odd but again it’s the east target and not racism

A poster literally said that Vladdy was too stupid to have dropped the ball for the double play a couple games back and that Merrifield must have told him to do it. Post is still there.

The treatment Guerrero is getting from a segment of this fanbase right now is gross. And again, it feels like a continuation of the people who were constantly triggered by the Caribbean players having fun in the dugout last year and the HR jacket and all of that.

There are 3 things going on with Vladdy right now :

1) He has a mechanical problem in his swing which has popped up for periods throughout his career where he rolls over on balls and hits them on the ground too much.

2) He hurt his knee in mid-May after getting of to a great start for the first 50 games and then went into the worst slump of his career immediately after returning.

3) He seems to press too much when things are going poorly and starts swinging on pitches outside of the zone, and loses his normally excellent strike zone management.

None of this has anything to do with Guerrero being lazy or a fat slob or unprofessional or dumb or having his shirt untucked or doing Gatorade showers.

Sure, that speaks on why people pick at weight issues, but complaining that he doesn’t try hard enough because he goofs around with his teammates is superficial. Gurriel and Teo were able to share that blame but now that they’re gone it’s like Vladdy was the sole perpetrator all along and he’s singlehandedly destroying the culture of the team.
 
I am not even kidding you and this isn't hyperbole. This Blue Jays offense in the last 2 months has got to rank as one of the worst teams ever out of any other team in any 2 month span in the history of MLB.

It’s close for sure! They’re 21st this season in runs scored in that span and 12th in wRC+. Definitely up there as one of the worst offences ever.
