… and of course Clement doubles in his first AB back. They aren’t putting their best options on the roster, same as White over Francis for the last month.

Vlad looks like a replacement level player. Nothing special about this guy at all
Yup we needed this guy to have a mvp caliber season if we wanted this team to reach the next level. Unfortunately he's a run of the mill first baseman and nothing special this year. His talent should result in a 900+ OPS every year but he hasn't come close to reaching that level outside of one season. Guy really isn't deserving of an extension and if this is the best he has to offer we are better to spend money elsewhere. Not sure when it's ever gonna clue in for this guy.

Love the orioles approach, everyone is swinging fairly level, no hero cuts, just trying to make good contact, no wonder the hits are so lopsided.

I don't like him as a bench player. He doesn't have great speed, doesn't have power, doesn't have above average defense.

He was likely getting close to being sent down then he had a hot streak but hasn't done much since.

EDIT: And that's the problem with the Jays bench, they have a few guys that don't excel at one or two aspects.

He’s not a good backup at any single position (and isn’t the primary backup at any position), doesn’t steal bases anymore, and has a below-average bat. He doesn’t fill any need on the roster.

If Vladdy had something similar to his 2021 season and Springer had a wRc of around 130 it would make a big difference.

I still think a change in hitting coaches might be beneficial

Yeah all the talk of 200-300 million extensions for Vladdy seem premature now. I would get on extending Bo though.

Jays lucked out big time not paying him a huge deal with huge term as he wanted.

As he keeps going year to year, next year he should get paid less as he performed much worse.

I don't know what went wrong with Vladdy. This guy had the makings of the next miggy Cabrera when you watched him coming up thru the minors. This guy should be competing for the batting crown every season but here he is hitting .267 and showing no signs of being that impact player.

He needs to put in the work physically or mentally or whatever is holding him back or his shine will quickly fade away.

What is their record against the AL East? At least the Yankees won’t be trying to win when they play them.

I don’t understand the anything can happen

Sure you can win a lottery but that’s not how you build a team

In the MLB there are a lot of instances where teams go on deep runs in the playoffs that squeak into the playoffs.

Well I'm glad they didn't go all in with this group.

Nobody having career years and lots of disappointments.

Could be a contender if half the lineup played even close to their potential.
Springer could be a concern going forward. He's making big money and while a decline was expected, he's a below-average hitter now in the third year of a 6 year contract.

Springer has a wRC of 94. He's getting close to Biggio.
I think you need to fire the hitting coach when so many hitters are underperforming. Can't change the roster much so it's really the only solution

When you're offense struggles it puts too much pressure on pitching and you wear down your top bullpen arms because you're always in tight games

Some of it is discipline and some is his inability to pick up pitches.
