I edited my post before you posted because I knew someone would suggest that.

Was not saying that at all, lets not go to an extreme. I know on this board its hard to criticize management, I thought he just painted an extremely rosey picture of a good team, but with some issues.
Ugh, everyone here criticises management on a regular basis.

The picture should be rosy because it's a really good team. The only point of him going on is to be positive about the team, and nothing good can come of expressing concerns. Literally every GM in the league, when asked about a struggling player in an in-game interview, will give some variation of "We believe in him".

I watch alot of other games and other gm's are a bit more direct and upfront about issues they have without being negative or depressing. Atkins to me just came across like the team was great and had no issues or concerns.

People do criticize management but is usually met with bickering back whenever they do.

Were never going to agree on this again I just thought he painted an overly rosy picture of the team in his interview. Not a big deal it was just my small impression.... Its a good team but its not like were rolling like the rays either. Were still early into the season lets hope some of the issues like manoah get sorted but there is some concerns still especially being in this insane division where the jays will have to be unfairly good. Lets see how this season plays out, maybe hes right.

Atkins is always like that which is why he’s a boring interview. I find Shapiro more willing to be more blunt.

Yes I agree with that, although I do wish shapiros interviews would be a bit less about renovations (and yes I know thats his job) but I find him grounded in his responses when he does discuss the team.

yeah this was definitely something fishy with Judge...

anyway, bats came alive a little too late to make a comeback.

Rough. I'm hoping to hear something about Manoah other than "let's send him out there to get it figured out"

I don't entirely believe you need to send him down. A simple 7-10 day reset on IR might be enough.

Either/or, you simply cannot continue just with the status quo.

Schneider non-committal on Manoah. Said him and Pete will "look into it" and see what the issue is. Be it trying to do too much, mechanical. etc. Didn't throw him under the bus but did say he needs to be better (duh)

Also unsure why Judge was looking at that direction and its something else they will have to look at. When asked if there was anything in particular he was looking at, he took a jab at himself and said "well i was never the caliber of hitter Judge was, but i'm sure he was looking at something"

It wouldn't shock me at all if the Yankees picked up on something Jackson/the defense was doing and relayed it to Judge from the dugout.

Yeah the Yankees definitely picked up on a tip there. On the Jays to figure it out before tomorrows game starts.

Another interesting fact: Buck was kinda going on about how Manoah needs to figure things out.

Weirdly enough, the last guy to send down a young star Jays pitcher was...Buck Martinez. He sent Halladay down to A ball after he imploded in his sophomore season. Came back completely reinvented and the rest is history.

Weird little coincidence

I want to like Aaron Judge, he seems like an amiable guy, but that New York Post article where he says he was only taking those quick peeks over, right before the pitch is thrown, sounds a bit like horseshit. It doesn’t make a lot of sense that he would do that look a second before the pitch comes in rather than when he steps out of the batter box.
It’s kind of suspect but maybe possible if guys are yelling right when he is about at the moment of hitting and he wants to identify the right person. Those shifty eyes look so suspicious though.

He needs to get in shape. He loved to take his time last year and breath. Pitch clock is killing him.
He’s extremely out of shape. I’m assuming that’s definitely a factor. Gotta send him down though. He’s an absolutely dumpster and guaranteed loss every 5 days.

Weight could play a factor but I’m just going to say quite a few pitchers didn’t make the necessary adjustments in the offseason to break their previous habits. Manoah is one of several good to elite pitchers that has struggled so far this year. The command is worrisome though. I’d almost rather him just pump fastballs and if they hit it then so be it.

I think we have to start questioning Pete Walker a bit more. Ray/Matz/Stripling were all essentially 1 year fixes before going elsewhere and becoming gas cans. Berrios is still human sized question mark and Kikuchi's underlyings are still scary. It's very valuable to have a pitching coach who can work with cheap scrap heap projects but you wouldn't need to do that as much if you developed more young pitchers with control.

Is this partially on the org? Absolutely but they've given Walker a lot of rope, it's about time he fixes their promising young ace.

I actually don't see the big deal with what Judge did, quite honestly. :dunno:

If the Yankees were relaying signs from the dugout Astros-style and Judge was looking over to see that : very bad.

If Judge was able to figure out what was coming by glancing over to see where the 1B was positioning himself : tip of the hat. That's awesome.
