I think he's got a bit of an ego problem, he probably thought he was all that and a bag of chips after his first season and a half were very good. Last year you could see he was so cocky yapping back at opposition players, being disrespectful. He's no Verlander or Scherzer with the longevity and results to back up the attitude. What I’m the actual f*** is wrong with monoah? He’s legit garbage now. How can one go from elite to garbage an offseason
His weight?
Mechanics?
Mental?
Yeah, the Richards decision was brutal, too. You got an amazing inning out of him, the team battled back to within a run... now go to your shutdown guys to lock it down and hope the offense can finish the comeback."What do you mean i can't fire Charlie Montoyo again?"
Kidding mostly but the decision making tonight has been uh...suspect.
Pinch hitting a relatively hot Varsho (yes ik it was L/L but Soto could have easily hung a pitch given how wild he is) for a ill Springer who not only isn't feeling good, but has also struggled for most of this young season is dumb.
Not pulling Richards after one inning when he generally gets blown out if he pitches more than that was dumb. Should have went to Swanson right after that instead of letting him load the bases.
Just head scratching. Bullpen management is a concern given they have 30 games in 31 days.
Maybe this is the real Manoah. All pitchers go on a heater at some point, and his was last year. I haven't ever been super impressed with his stuff.I think he's got a bit of an ego problem, he probably thought he was all that and a bag of chips after his first season and a half were very good. Media pumped his tires too, especially Sportsnet with the 6 part series.
A few more starts of this and time to send him to the minors to fix whatever's broke.
I just think he has to come back to earth a bit between the ears, as it appears he's not gonna cruise to a hall of fame career.I'm not sure it's ego. He beefed with Gerrit Cole who most of the majors acknowledges is a whiny dickhead anyways. I'm surprised he didn't bitch to the NY media incessantly like he does every time he breaks a nail.
He beefed with Verdugo and that seemed to just be more the hypercompetitive nature of sport getting to both guys. Verdugo handed out an olive branch and i hope Manoah took it. Weirdly enough, Verdugo also beefed with Cole last season too.
It's straight up his slider doesn't work. Without it he has nothing to tunnel his sinker and fastball off of making both of those pitches infinitely more hittable.
That seems like a hell of a stretch. He's clearly a very different manager in a lot of ways. More importantly, just to stress how much managing experience he has, he was hired for his first management job by JP Ricciardi. I'm pretty sure his management philosophies were well established by the time Montoyo came around.I am not turning on John because of a few perceived bad decisions. BUT, there is a reason why I prefer going outside the organization when hiring a manager. John learned from Charlie too much lol.
Not the first one either. His decisions are approaching Montoya territory or beyondThis was not a good game for Schneider.
Swanson should have started the inning, no need to throw Richards out there againThis is Dan and Joe's fault. They pointed out how good Richards has been coming out of break.

ITS going to hurt for Years and Years he is already better than KIRK and JANSENYou realize that Varsho has a higher fWAR than Moreno despite his garbage start?
When in win-now, sometimes you have to give up pieces that hurt.
You're WRONG. Has MORENO made an ALL-STAR team YET? Or a SILVER SLUGGER?ITS going to hurt for Years and Years he is already better than KIRK and JANSEN
Agreed it should be better. I just don't see any direction in actually building the team. They bought the two most famous names they could find that were free agents and otherwise have seemingly stopped construction anything resembling an actual roster. This team has more than enough talent to get better results. Bradley has won 27% of games since taking over with the highest pay role in the league....
The top has it's issues for sure, Manning is brutal in his own right. But man the on field results should be much better than they currently are.
Wrong thread. Keep the TFC tire fire in its own threadAgreed it should be better. I just don't see any direction in actually building the team. How did you know?Knew romano was gonna blow this one
