Pitch coaching staff needs to do their jobs here and figure out what the hell is wrong with his slider.

If Pete can fix Kikuchi i'm sure they can get Manoah to function properly again.

Yep was getting away with it all game, and someone finally made him pay.
Risky game to play with any lineup (duh) but even more so here considering how many power bats the Phillies have.

Castellanos, Schwarber, Harper, Turner and shit even Marsh all have pop in their bats. One of the last lineups i would want to be trying to get cute with.

What I’m the actual f*** is wrong with monoah? He’s legit garbage now. How can one go from elite to garbage an offseason

His weight?
Mechanics?
Mental?

That's insane. It makes sense though since he either misses way off the plate or puts it right down the middle usually.

No clue what the cause is. Pitch clock shouldn't be causing that much issue, it's not his weight. a guy like him wouldn't seem like someone that would get rattled easily by confidence related stuff. Arm issue maybe?

I wonder if it's the spin rate. Heard this morning that MLB have taken extra, extra precautions to deal with substances being used. Many many pitchers are struggling badly.

Spin rate is down a bit. Per savant his slider was at 2216 last year down to 2166 this year. That's a 50 RPM reduction. lost drop both vertically and horizontally as well.

That would explain why he's missing long on outside sliders but i'm not sure if that's what causes them to hang so much. I would assume yes since loss of RPM means the ball isn't going where you want it to.

Springer has been sick for a week and you go to him in that situation? Varsho has been swinging a good bat recently too. Ugh.

I also fully believe he's sick still. COVID is still a thing and idk what it is about this cold/flu season but there's some nasty shit going around. I had covid about 6 weeks ago and then caught a stomach bug about a week ago that took 4 days to completely shake off. Only started feeling like myself again on the weekend. Still dealing with a residual cough too.

Yeah, and they need to figure out if Varsho can handle lefties better than he did last year. He's part of the core of this team, and I think you have to leave him in there and see what he can do, especially with a couple more inning to go and a decent chance his spot comes up again.

Agreed 100 percent.

You don't trade one of the top five prospects in all of baseball for a guy you psuedo-platoon.
