Cut off is the end of August. So Jansen will be on the roster if healthy and I believe Eden is eligible as well.

Jansen is obviously eligible. Eden wasn't put on the 40 man until September so that doesn't change anything. They need an injury to roster Eden but does Jansen's injury(that happened in September as well) count or does it need to be a new one?

So I do not understand the playoff system....if the Jays win tomorrow they play the Rays in the playoffs, but the they finish behind Houston, they play Minnesota?
i'll just let the schedule makers figure this WC2 WC3 math out. Didnt like having to rely on another team to help us get in. But we'll take it.

Basically the worst division winner has to play in the wildcard series to get in but as a reward for winning their division they get the worst wildcard team.
But because the AL central is so bad that the team that won it is worse than the wildcard teams

So who's going to start tomorrow for the Jays now?
As long as it's not Gausman I don't give a shit.

Manoah??? ;););)LOL

If Houston wins today and tomorrow and the Blue Jays lose tomorrow then the Blue Jays get WC3

But boy TB is beat up right now though, no? A lot of injury holes.

3 of the last 4 seasons Jays have made the playoffs. Other season they missed by one game.
Yeah that’s pretty remarkable given the insanely long no playoff stretch which lasted (I think) after the World Series all the way through to the Bautista, encarnacion years.

those we’re some lean years. We went through 2 logo and team rebrands with zero playoffs lol.

thank god for mlb playoff expansion.

I was too young in 92 and 93 then I had to suffer through the next 20+ years. A few of those Jays teams were really good they just got unlucky they were in the toughest division in baseball.

Considering Houston has something to play for tomorrow (the AL West title), it would be in the Jays best interest to lose to Tampa Bay tomorrow?

Not to mention the times when they choked. IN 85' the Jays were expected to win against KC, and did go up 3-1. Unfortunately for Toronto, that just happened to be the year where they extended the ALCS to best-of-7 from best-of-5, and the Jays proceeded to lose the final 3 games.

Then in 87' the Jays had won the first 3 of the 4 game series with division rivals Detroit. The Jays then proceeded to blow their final 7 games in a row, while I believe Detroit went 5-2, to clinch the AL East title on the final game of the season. I believe they were also ahead of Boston in 1990 until the final week, and ended up finishing a game behind.

We used to call them the "choke Jays" up until 1992, since they had a nasty habit of choking when it counted for nearly a decade.
