Playoff Scenarios

Basically if the Jays win tonight, there is no scenario where Seattle splits or worse and/or Houston loses their series or worse where the Jays miss. Getting a win tonight is key. Basically guarantees that Houston and Seattle needs to win their series for them to have a chance to bounce the Jays.

And that's not even talking his plate performance, his defense has declined significantly this year.

His errors have gone up from 5 last year to 12 this year, and there have been far too many plays in the dirt or off base that Vladdy has to stretch and dig out or swat a player running down the line.

I think he'll still get paid by some desperate team.

For comparison, Bo only has 8 errors this year, down from 23 & 24 in the last two seasons.
Chapman should win the Gold Glove for 3rd in the AL.

But but Baltimore has a .487 xGRIT and that fDAWG in them. There’s no way a 100 win team that is definitely going to make the WS struggles against top pitching.

Also .06 OPS difference between like the 3rd best (.710) and 3rd worst (.650). Just goes to show that good pitching is good against anyone. Oh and the Jays won both series against the Braves and Dodgers who are unequivocally the best teams at beating up good pitching.

Thank goodness Seattle wants nothing to do with the playoffs and have completely crapped the bed.
Hope it continues for Seattle to play like that but that's not how Jays want to go into the playoffs by another team losing.

I'll just say the obvious but if they can hit the ball tonight and actually score a few f***ing runs... then they can actually win.

I've seen stretches this year where their bats go cold. I get one game here and there but it's multiple games in a row at times.

Feel bad for the pitching sometimes sitting in the dugout after pitching great and the team does nothing.

I'd imagine but then again it's MLB... He may bet on himself on a short deal, or go lower average and secure his retirement deal. The Jays dodged a bullet not going more than 2 years, or over reacting on his hot start.
I think someone still gives him 100+ million. It’s a weak FA class he has the defensive reputation and some GM will think they can get him closer to the hitter he was at the start of the year.
Any team that does give him big money will regret it but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

I think you still have to qualify him. He is a Boras client so it’s pretty unlikely he accepts it and even if he does it’s not the worst thing in the world. Like I said it’s a pretty poor FA class and even if you could find a replacement him for 1 year at 20M isn’t unmovable

He very well could get paid this off season for the exact reasons you’ve called out. Our problem is we need bats and his seems to have died and we can’t afford to tie up money in a defence only 3b. He very well could get his swing back but I’m happy to let another team see what they can find in the bat

Saw a score article today saying KK wants to remain in the AL east next year but play on real grass. If that’s true seems like a crazy thing to say now and really in poor taste. Maybe play out your co tract before saying garbage like that. I just can’t believe it’s true

Schneider not playing Schneider tonight, ugh.

Instead he plays Matt 4K Chapman.
