Chapman has cost himself what, maybe $100 mil over the past couple of months?

I'd imagine but then again it's MLB... He may bet on himself on a short deal, or go lower average and secure his retirement deal. The Jays dodged a bullet not going more than 2 years, or over reacting on his hot start.

I actually wondered if that has become a distraction for him but like someone else posted I think he’ll take a short term deal to try and prove himself again. I can see one year in New York

It's been hot garbage all year.

As a matter of fact, this may actually be one of the worst hitting teams in recent Blue Jays memory.
16th in runs scored, 10th WRC+ and 12th in ops. Has definitely been disappointing but it’s around league average, not hot garbage.

It’s weird because most of the time, Jays have a top ten offence especially when they have a good team.

And they've been shutout the most of any team in the league this year and for a large % of the season were bottom 3 in average with RISP.

Wow Houston blows it open. Good for us?

It’s the worst possible outcome for us tonight unless Seattle keeps losing.

i'm going to the game tonight. First time in a while.

It would be nice if they showed some fight.

It's a dynamic arrangement for sure for standings. A lot of variables in the AL West that could impact where the Jays sit.

MLB has some tiebreaking scenarios:

And that's not even talking his plate performance, his defense has declined significantly this year.

His errors have gone up from 5 last year to 12 this year, and there have been far too many plays in the dirt or off base that Vladdy has to stretch and dig out or swat a player running down the line.

I think he'll still get paid by some desperate team.

For comparison, Bo only has 8 errors this year, down from 23 & 24 in the last two seasons.

If Jays go 2-2, they are basically in? Seattle would have to sweep Texas in order to tie the Jays in the standings.
2-2 probably does it but the magic number is still 3. We only need one of Seattle or Houston to lose a single game for the magic number to be 2. But this is baseball, both teams could just as easily win out. Jays need to start winning some games.

Agreed. Jays need to win their win in. I just wanted Sunday to be meaningless, looks less likely that could be the case. We will see.
