Vladdy and the Jays season in a nutshell right there.

Poor approach with RISP.

Tries to do too much with a hittable pitch then swings at a high pitch and pops it up.

Fire the damn hitting coach.
Give me a break. You can’t be that dumb. All these posts complaining about the hitting coach are far more frustrating than Vladdy’s season.

But he did that for years. fight with the callers, etc. he wasnt even host of post game talk when he was fired, or not brought back for next season.
Ratings? If I stopped listing to the games on the radio because of him I’m sure people in the actual ratings markets did too

There were concerns about the offense during the offseason after his moves. As GM, the ultimate responsibility lies with him.
After this season I get the feeling they’ll be basement dwellers for the next couple of years.

I think they were getting a lot of complaints about him.
Yeah, not only is he a massive homer, but he also comes off as an arrogant “I know way more about baseball then you do” kind of person/expert.

What's funny is we get the Nationals now who are the second hottest team in the NL since the all star break.

He's absolutely a dead man walking
Schneider is definitely gone. Atkins should be too but I am not so sure he will be.

Shapiro and him really seem attached at the hip. I can’t see Shapiro actually pulling the trigger and firing him. Which means he may have to go too.

With the stadium renovations beginning in 6 weeks, could they fire Shapiro now?

Once this season is done 2 things this organization must do is get rid of Hudgens who seemed more interested in twitter than preparing the players, and Martinez. Get rid of these hitting coach clowns and it’s time for a real manager to lead this team. Montoyo and Schneider are not qualified to lead a team that has a 200 million dollar payroll. It’s go time for this group. It’s time for Atkins or Shapiro to start gunning for a championship.

I don’t know who is the hottest name in the hitting coach world but go out and get him. Go out and get a MLB quality manager who doesn’t make idiotic decisions Game after game

Not trying to defend John Schneider, but if anyone says he is worse than Montoyo or on his level they need to be reminded of this: they Jays are only underperforming their pythag record by 1 win this season. This year's team is what it is, mostly due to many key players underperforming relative to their pre-season projections.

Bongo boy somehow had the 2021 team underperform their pythag record by 9 wins! It's not even close, Schneider definitely has his problems but no one should be comparing him to Montoyo. Atkins built a team that should have won 100 games in 2021 and Montoyo trashed it.

I’m not comparing the two but we can all admit the last 2 managerial choices haven’t been anywhere close to being qualified to lead a team with expectations this high. Montoyo was a clown, and Schneider hasn’t been much better. I don’t see how Atkins can justify keeping John around just by looking at the results. We can use a copious amount of examples including yesterday on why John shouldn’t be the manager.

He said post game that it came down to execution…when in reality Biggio never gets asked to bunt, we haven’t done it all year so why put it on? All Biggio had to do was pull the ball to the first base side and Jansen is at 3rd with 1 out

Same can be said for Belt the next inning, didn’t even attempt to bunt. That’s inexcusable

Also giving Espinal the green light on a 3-0 count in such an important time of the game is a fireable offense in itself

Go by OPS with runners in scoring position, top 5 teams are in the playoffs. Texas is 7th, Seattle18th, Toronto 25th. But generally the bad teams in the bottom are not in the playoff hunt.

5 of the 6 AL playoff teams are in the top 5 of 6 OPS with runners in scoring position. Aside from Colorado, the NL playoff standings mirrors the OPS ranking in this category also.

Discard many of the useless stats many like to highlight, especially in the media. These guys don't know shit about statistical analysis. Good teams score runners in scoring position ESPECIALLY with ZERO outs. This Jays team is absolutely trash in this respect and their record is mostly just due to this factor.

This stat is the crucial measurement in evaluating your team. As the Jays are near the bottom, fixing that is paramount.

I think if the season ended today Schneider is out 100% along with most anyone not named Pete Walker and Atkins is 50/50. He may get one more year to put it together.

If you're going to adopt a solid pitching/defense first philosophy, that means your offense must play fundamental baseball. Move the runners over and score the guys in scoring position with less than 2 outs. That's been a weakness all season because they refuse to adjust in their at bats to the situation.

This. The approach/lack of adjustments kills this team. Vladdy has had the same approach since spring training. Look at Espinal! If a bench guy thinks it’s ok to swing 3-0 when the pitch was clearly ball 4 than that tells you all you need to know about why this team will miss the playoffs. The attitude/lack of adjustments/approach at the plate/lack of fundamentals is exactly why this team is where it is. Just name a player… Chapman, hot April, absolute dog shit since. Springer, down year, Varsho, not up to standard, Biggio, a bench guy who can’t even get a fundamental bunt down. Vladdy not even close this year

nice 2 rbi double by Vladdy

And the Babe with a RBI single to drive vladdy in. 4-1 Jays.

Gausman must be having a hardon now. 4 runs? no way.
