The sample size from Pearson over the last year has been very small. Even just seeing him throw 10-15 innings in AAA with good peripherals would go a long way before DFA’ing Richards. But hey, if Richards implodes over the weekend again and they have to move quicker on moving up Pearson, so be it. I won’t be complaining.The only reason Pearson was even down in the minors the last couple seasons was to stretch him out as a starter. With that dream dead I don’t think there’s much more for him to prove down there. Main reason he isn’t on the team now is because he has options and they want to see if Richards is worth keeping.
