Swing is looking ridiculously slow right now. Have to hope they can make an adjustment I guess.
Yeah, he's looked brutal. I'm not too concerned yet because he had a short spring coming off knee surgery, so it would make sense that he might take a bit of time to get going.

One of the nice things about the team construction this year is that they're loaded with solid major league players, so if he keeps struggling they can just hand his playing time to someone else and they should be just fine.

On the bright side their hitters still mostly suck outside Trout, Ohtani, and Ward. That and we're missing Ohtani pitch.

On the not bright side, Berrios, Bassitt, and Kikuchi have to face Trout, Ohtani, and Ward 2-3 times each.

That's probably the best trio in the league lol. It does fall off a cliff, but Renfroe isn't bad and I like Urshela and O'Hoppe at the bottom of the lineup

We're gonna see a ton of runs this weekend.

What do you guys see with Belt? He looks totally cooked. It's early, of course, Chapman is not Ted Williams either. So what do you think?

Worst case you DFA him if he continues to suck, but, If he's even 80% of the player he was in 2021, he's a 125 wRC+ hitter on the strong side of the platoon and an insanely valuable DH/bench bat. He definitely looks off (obviously), but you gotta give him some runway at this point. The guy was late to spring, is coming off major surgery, and realistically hasn't seen in game pitching since like mid-way through 2022 besides the short spring and early games. I assume they'll give him 30-50 games and if it's *this* bad they'll dump him.

As for Chapman, he's obviously not keeping this up, but his strikeouts are down, and his analytics are insane. It's like a switch flipped and he's been mashing the ball insanely hard and barreling virtually everything.

Richards and mayza throwing batting practice.

Schneider got cocky and thought Richards could finish this out.
If you can’t use Richards in a 6-0 game you can’t use him at all. I imagine he has a bit of rope but not much. It will depend on how other AAA options look when deciding to DFA him. Without Green and White we are a little thin. Pearson also needs to prove him self in the minors before getting called up imo.

I feel last year Chappy hit the ball real hard at times, and even some hits I thought were doubles or home runs but never went out. Maybe that luck is turning in his favour now.

With Chapman i'm guessing he's finally found his comfort zone again after the hip surgery.

Some would rightfully respond with "but that was 3 years ago." True, but hip injuries are a killer for a lot of athletes. Some guys never bounce back from it and if they do it takes a while.

Chapman was awful in 2021, generally good in 2022 (took him a good while to turn it on though) and comes out red hot to start this year. He's getting his bat on everything and looks so, so much more comfortable out there. Good for him, probably bad for the Jays given he's due a new contract in the winter.

This is the return of the Always Intense version of Chappy.

The only reason Pearson was even down in the minors the last couple seasons was to stretch him out as a starter. With that dream dead I don’t think there’s much more for him to prove down there. Main reason he isn’t on the team now is because he has options and they want to see if Richards is worth keeping.

Hip injuries are weird like that when it comes to recovery. Look at Chappy, then look at KK. KK has started off this year like a house on fire.
