If they pick Michkov I have full confidence they did their homework with regards to his situation and I will expect to see him before the 3 years in the KHL are up. If they pass, I also trust they have their reasons.

It's weird as shit to me that we can't even discuss anyone else though. People have been getting so pretentious and emotional with this whole Michkov thing to the point where discussing the draft isn't even fun anymore. Such a 1 track mind they don't even realize when they're being clowned or people are joking around. It's hockey, it's just hockey. Go outside and touch grass.
It's just hockey but obviously anyone posting on a forum is an extra tier of fandom haha. How would you feel if the Habs passed on Bedard? You'd trust they had their reasons? That's why people are getting so emotional about this pick. They feel he's a Bedard level player and therefore are desperate for the Habs to pick him. I've never seen that kind of player on the Habs in my life so I'll touch grass when that's no longer a possibility.

For now, we dream.

Garbage. If Bedard was Russian and locked up in Russia for 3 years the same reservations would be held.

The betting websites make their odds not only on what is most likely to happen, but also on what people are betting on. I suppose Michkov having good interviews riled up many fans that were salivating at those odds and bet a lot on it, so they lowered the return.

It ain't that simple - last year, before the draft, Wright was the favourite until about an hour before the draft when Slaf became the odds on favourite after being something like a +300 at the start of the day/+700ish at the start of the week. Pay close attention to the odds ~an hour or so before the draft, and if anyone is getting steam/seeing their odds drop, there's a likely chance that they are the pick.

where is Bedard ? Hawks could take Michkov it seems

They didn't make one for the 1st overall....

And guess what....for the 3rd time in the last 20 minutes, Michkov odds improved again on the 2nd overall.

And odds from Fantilli being being picked 3rd overall went from +350 to +200 also during that time

Nooooooooo! Anaheim, you take Fantilli or Carlsson and LEAVE MICHKOV ALONE! He's waiting to become a Hab.

I mean he has different circumstances than Bedard though. You can argue the impact of his circumstances but they do exist. Teams will obviously take that into consideration.

If Bedard said he was 100% going to be completing his full 4 year college degree and a masters before coming to the NHL then yeah, that kind of thing would probably affect his draft position.
