Looks like Nash had a good thing going last season with Geekie's brother down there.

How many more years before Connor can refuse to sign with Arizona and come to Boston? Only half joking as that guy looks like exactly what Boston needs.

Looks like 2 more years. From Wikipedia:
Conor Geekie (born May 5, 2004) is a Canadian junior ice hockey centre for the Wenatchee Wild of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and a prospect of the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted in the first round, 11th overall, by the Coyotes in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.[1] On July 18, 2022, he was signed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Coyotes.

Wow Bruins defense of all time best regular season records almost here - seems like almost yesterday Monty in an elimination game had left shot Foligno on first line RW with Marchand and Coyle

Welcome to the Jungle
To me according to how he played in his limited time last season he is a no brainer.

I have him ahead of brown, lucic and chaisson.

Lauko is the best 4th line option.

His forecheck is amazing. He gets behind the D and forces them to use a lot of energy to defend him. He also draws a lot of penalties because of this. He speed gets him on the puck as fast as anyone.

He loves to hit.

He fights.

Brown is a centre. So I suppose there is that. I honestly don’t think brown will make the opening night roster regardless. I’m hoping a centre prospect makes it personally.
I also have him ahead of Chiasson at least. Probably Brown too but pure C vs pure W I’m not sure that matters. But I also agree with 4Orr Lauko has to earn it. He has an inside track but he’s no shoe in.

The x being either Beecher if he finds more consistancy and adds more physicality to his game. Needs to work on faceoffs as well

Brown is more physical, better on face offs and more consistent physically.

If Beecher doesn't pick up his game then it will be Brown. I do not care about a players age or if he is a prospect, if he is the better player he should get the job in Boston. You have to wonder though how little even Sweeney thinks of his "prospects" if he signed so many vets for bottom 6 roles. The games I saw from .Providence last year I am not expecting the Merkulovs, Beechers, Lysells etc to make any impact
There is a reason the prospect pool is rated so lowly by national writers. Toporowski looks like the best option for a middle six forward spot in the future.

Beecher was 56% on the dot last year. I guess you could want him over 60% but he’s great there.

And there’s not a single analyst who watches these guys every game who puts Topo over Lysell or Merkulov.

I think the FO is leaning this way. Bringing back Lucic and adding bigger forwards like JVR and Geekie. Brown isn't here for shits and giggles. I fully expect him in the lineup even if it's spotty. Yes I get it that JVR and Geekie aren't overly physical but they won't be manhandled either.

Look at the draft this year , definitely a slant towards bigger players. They've finally smelled the coffee.

As far as prospects go , let's be honest, not much upper tier among them, if any.

They slid his contract last year, so his ELC is for 3 more years, At which point he'll be a RFA. It's about 8 years before he'd be able to sign anywhere else.

I like Topo but I don’t see him that close to either

The Lauko use in game 5 was the least discussed Monty blunder

He screws up a 2 on 0 break a couple of minutes in that his indecisiveness led to not even an average chance

He took 2 penalties and was baited into a retaliatory penalty by Tkachuk who’s eyes must have lit up when Monty put him out on a FO in the third period of a tie game (Reinhart scored 30 seconds in)

There is parts to his game I like but he is the most overrated player on this roster

It’s like how Boychuk mistakes cost the Bruins game 6 vs Chicago in 2013 and game 7 2014 v Montreal that led directly to losses

But because everyone including me love Johnny it’s Rask fault which is comical

I need to see a heck of a lot more out of Lauko

I would suggest anyone want to learn about game 5 and what went down go watch the ESPN version called by Sean McDonagh - it’s educational in many ways and Lauko play and decisions buried by all the Bruins choked posts

The "penalty" on Lauko on the faceoff was comical at best. Florida's NHL mandate ended in the finals. The Vegas retribution was beautiful.

It was comical but it probably cost them series

I was watching with my bud who is a member here and coach and we both were watching it and discussing unfold

I’m a shmuck and I saw it was coming as did Jess - he never should have been in that spot without an understanding what was at stake

Lauko showed his unawareness in that moment and so did Monty

Where do you find AHL faceoff numbers? I have a hard time on the AHL website finding anything other than pts really.

This is the most excited I've been about training camp in a long time. I think its the combination of the long layoff, where I did sort of a hockey blackout, and the huge roster turnover. There's a lot of storylines going in camp, which makes it more interesting. Drop the puck!
Nice. Yeah, lots of questions to be answered. And I honestly like the exhibition games more than the early regular season games because you get to see the prospects on the ice with NHL'ers (as a comparison), so there's lots to learn.
