I'd like to see Lauko, McLaughlin (bottom6) and one of Merkulov or Lysell in the top6 but... I think they'll bury the two-ways and force them to earn their way up with in-season play and injury openings.I’d like to think Lauko beats out someone like Chiasson.
Yes,old Winnipeg IceWenatchee of the WHL?
Looks like 2 more years. From Wikipedia:Looks like Nash had a good thing going last season with Geekie's brother down there.

How many more years before Connor can refuse to sign with Arizona and come to Boston? Only half joking as that guy looks like exactly what Boston needs.
Ah well...Looks like 2 more years. From Wikipedia:
Conor Geekie (born May 5, 2004) is a Canadian junior ice hockey centre for the Wenatchee Wild of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and a prospect of the Arizona Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted in the first round, 11th overall, by the Coyotes in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.[1] On July 18, 2022, he was signed to a three-year, entry-level contract with the Coyotes.
I also have him ahead of Chiasson at least. Probably Brown too but pure C vs pure W I’m not sure that matters. But I also agree with 4Orr Lauko has to earn it. He has an inside track but he’s no shoe in.To me according to how he played in his limited time last season he is a no brainer.
I have him ahead of brown, lucic and chaisson.
Lauko is the best 4th line option.
His forecheck is amazing. He gets behind the D and forces them to use a lot of energy to defend him. He also draws a lot of penalties because of this. He speed gets him on the puck as fast as anyone.
He loves to hit.
He fights.
Brown is a centre. So I suppose there is that. I honestly don’t think brown will make the opening night roster regardless. I’m hoping a centre prospect makes it personally.
Beecher was 56% on the dot last year. I guess you could want him over 60% but he’s great there.Lucic-x-Lauko
The x being either Beecher if he finds more consistancy and adds more physicality to his game. Needs to work on faceoffs as well
Brown is more physical, better on face offs and more consistent physically.
If Beecher doesn't pick up his game then it will be Brown. I do not care about a players age or if he is a prospect, if he is the better player he should get the job in Boston. You have to wonder though how little even Sweeney thinks of his "prospects" if he signed so many vets for bottom 6 roles. The games I saw from .Providence last year I am not expecting the Merkulovs, Beechers, Lysells etc to make any impact
There is a reason the prospect pool is rated so lowly by national writers. Toporowski looks like the best option for a middle six forward spot in the future.

They slid his contract last year, so his ELC is for 3 more years, At which point he'll be a RFA. It's about 8 years before he'd be able to sign anywhere else.Looks like 2 more years. From Wikipedia:

Lauko is on a one-way and subject to waivers. I am confident he starts the season on the roster and I am hoping he is in the lineup.
He is actually on a two way this year and one way next year.Lauko is on a one-way and subject to waivers. I am confident he starts the season on the roster and I am hoping he is in the lineup.
I like Topo but I don’t see him that close to eitherBeecher was 56% on the dot last year. I guess you could want him over 60% but he’s great there.
And there’s not a single analyst who watches these guys every game who puts Topo over Lysell or Merkulov.
The Lauko use in game 5 was the least discussed Monty blunder
He screws up a 2 on 0 break a couple of minutes in that his indecisiveness led to not even an average chance
He took 2 penalties and was baited into a retaliatory penalty by Tkachuk who’s eyes must have lit up when Monty put him out on a FO in the third period of a tie game (Reinhart scored 30 seconds in)
There is parts to his game I like but he is the most overrated player on this roster
It’s like how Boychuk mistakes cost the Bruins game 6 vs Chicago in 2013 and game 7 2014 v Montreal that led directly to losses
But because everyone including me love Johnny it’s Rask fault which is comical
I need to see a heck of a lot more out of Lauko
I would suggest anyone want to learn about game 5 and what went down go watch the ESPN version called by Sean McDonagh - it’s educational in many ways and Lauko play and decisions buried by all the Bruins choked posts
It was comical but it probably cost them seriesThe "penalty" on Lauko on the faceoff was comical at best. Florida's NHL mandate ended in the finals. The Vegas retribution was beautiful.
Where do you find AHL faceoff numbers? I have a hard time on the AHL website finding anything other than pts really.Beecher was 56% on the dot last year. I guess you could want him over 60% but he’s great there.

Instat is your best betWhere do you find AHL faceoff numbers? I have a hard time on the AHL website finding anything other than pts really.
Have a guy in a different chat who can get those numbers and he shared them with meWhere do you find AHL faceoff numbers? I have a hard time on the AHL website finding anything other than pts really.
Nice. Yeah, lots of questions to be answered. And I honestly like the exhibition games more than the early regular season games because you get to see the prospects on the ice with NHL'ers (as a comparison), so there's lots to learn. This is the most excited I've been about training camp in a long time. I think its the combination of the long layoff, where I did sort of a hockey blackout, and the huge roster turnover. There's a lot of storylines going in camp, which makes it more interesting. Drop the puck!
