Getting the first goal after carrying the play in such a lopsided fashion was huge. We have a habit of carrying the play against Finland but failing to score first and then collapsing when we fall behind. Nice to see Lucius get it, he needs to be a primary player for us and hasn't been so far.

This might be our biggest PK of the tournament. Finland has had nothing so far. Don't give them any confidence let alone a goal.

And there it is. You can't let a team hang in there when they've been overwhelmed. That was a really soft penalty call against Lipkin but the 13th forward can not be taking penalties, especially against a team that typically relies on their PP so much in this tournament.

Disappointing to only come out of that period tied. The best period they've played so far; possession and control of play was very lopsided. This isn't the game to gift Finland PP's. They haven't been able to generate anything 5-on-5; don't give them a chance on the PP, something they typically rely on and thrive on.

Good period by everyone except Lipkin and Gauthier, who took stupid penalties.

If they are reading this: your mothers don't even love you.

Really good first period from the US, just as bad from the finns. You deserve more than a tie so far but at least the ref gave you a soft call in the end.

That was not a soft call. It was a stupid play by the Finn.
Well, Behrens deserved a call before that against Kemell. Literally couple of seconds earlier. So...
I won't disturb this thread anymore. Have a nice evening enjoying the game.

Hughes! Other than his lazy turnover a few minutes ago he's been dominating today

Damn, lucky goal for the Finns. There was an obvious missed interference call right before that, too

Finns have gotten the message to put every puck towards the net and it's helping them sustain pressure for the first time even strength. It'll be interesting to see how the team adjsusts

Weird period. Some flukey / soft goals on both sides. US still generated the best chances but the Finns are starting to find some consistency and chances even strength. Next goal is huge - can't let the Finns get it to 1.
