I’m starting to think Carbonneau is gone by our pick. Martin ( who may be gone also) and Nesbitt are on my mind now
I think you’re probably right but I do wonder if a lot of scouts discount the Q as lesser competition these days or if that’s just fan folklore. If it’s the former, who knows, maybe enough scouting departments ahead of us think that way and he’s available later than his stats would/should dictate.

THN and dobber had him top 10 and it’s been mentioned on the prospects forum. Think some other outlets have him top 10 or at least #10 too.

Edit: EP has 5 outlets ranking him 8-10.
I mean the list with feedback from nhl scouts (McKenzie) is a lot more valuable to me than that of THN or Dobber.

But I do agree with you he is someone that could rise with a good finish to his season and performance at the U18s.

If we pick in the 18+ range how about the Chinese big kid ??? I dont know much about him and I'll have to look into it more but I seen him as a late 1st rounder possibility

Turns 18 only in the summer and says hes going to boston university with likely hutson, eiserman there

Its suppose to not be a deep draft so I wouldnt be against it unless someone intriguing drops when our turn comes

I would be extremely disappointed to use a high pick on this kid. He screams mid-to-late round project pick who is a long shot at best. Even his upside is probably only that of a 3rd pairing guy.

Yeah, and we already have our giant 3rd pair defensive stalwart.

Brady f***ing Cleveland!

It may be discounted, but not by that much. It still produces NHL players and we aren't talking about a top 3 pick.

I am not going to make predictions about who we draft until I find out where we are actually drafting. More so than most years there is a massive variance in potential draft order outcomes this year.

Just watched some highlights, Lakovic is looking like a solid pick around 15.

Anyone here has some more insight into Lakovic, pros and cons etc?

Would be great to add some size in the top-6 and a player who's ready to make the roster in 2026-2027.

I wouldn’t mind throwing a 4th or whatever at him if he’s there purely based on the height/edgework combo, but a first would be puke worthy. He’s straight up bad at the high end junior level right now in the couple games I’ve seen

I like this guy a lot. Not huge at 6-1, 200...but hits like a truck...fights a ton...seems to be a great skater...really nice shot...seems to have good offensive skill. McKenzie has him ranked #18 ovr right now too, so right in our range.

Left-handed shot, so he could pair w Seider or ASP...make Johansson your utility man/5th D...able to step in for anyone and to play w anyone in the top-4 in case of injury.

Edvinsson/Aitcheson -- Seider
Edvinsson/Aitcheson -- ASP
Wallinder/Buium -- Johansson

I like it

I actually like him quite a bit as well and made a thread for him on the prospects forum.

I am not sure if I like him better than the defenseman from the W though... Will have to try to watch some more of them, I have barely seen any of these players play this year.

18 goals in 50 games is pretty impressive.... Also Barrie has been pretty good at developing defenseman.

Carbonneau seems like he's got very high upside? Not sure if I'm missing something with him and why he's not ranked higher. I would pray he's around our spot. Though the Wings probably take someone like Martin.

I have seen a mix of opinions on Carbonneau, but I personally think he has good upside, and I have been hoping we pick him for awhile now.

I also have seen people say Martin has good upside. Brock who covers the OHL called him "extremely skilled".

In his last update?

I’ve decided Carbonneau and Martin will be gone when we draft. Jack Nesbitt is my choice for now

And not a bad choice.

Who's the DMan from the W?
