WJC: 2023 Team Canada Roster Talk Part 2

Loading up with role playing goons from out west based off vague mid 2000s notions of “tough to play against” and “size” is never a good idea, see vancouver 2019
Yeah, they decide to go with guys like Dach instead or a guy like Dumais who is better at passing, shooting, stickhandling and is over 2.00 ppg is just ridiculous.

The Bolduc and Dumais cuts have me partly annoyed but we'll see who makes it before going full rant
They probably pick a line of Bankier-Dach-Schaefer as a 4th line but I'm not a fan of it.

I would have prefer:

Bolduc-Beck-Dumais to provide more offence.

Do we have an official list of cuts?

Goalies

Tyler Brennan, Prince George (New Jersey Devils)
Benjamin Gaudreau, Sarnia (San Jose Sharks)
Thomas Milic, Seattle (2023 eligible)
William Rousseau, Quebec (2023 eligible)

With Bedard, Wright, Stank, Guenther, Fantilli etc. etc. This lineup doesn't need more offense, especially from the 4th line.
Maybe but Bolduc and Beck are pretty solid defensively as well, while Beck is the best faceoff man in the OHL.

Dumais can slot anywhere is the lineup, he's the 2nd or 3rd best ppg producer in the entire CHL behind Bedard and maybe Stankoven?

I’m putting myself out on a limb here but beck is a lock !!! I’ll be back to gloat or take the beating :)

We had a stacked offensive lineup in '21, but couldn't score a goal in the final vs USA. Sometimes you need goals from your depth players which is a lot easier when your depth players are scorers.

For the record, there's nobody on this forward list that can't score, but some of those cuts were just better at it than some that made the team.

Bankier, Dach and Greene are odd choices in my view (there's one cut remaining I haven't seen). I haven't seen them play much so my opinion is based more on reputation and stats then actual viewing, but I feel Bolduc, Beck and Dumais would have been better.

I mean TC could still see two forward cuts - with how questionable goaltending is this year, wouldn't hurt to bring 3 goalies.

I think that Bolduc could have been a good contributor to the team. Didn't see the exhibition games obviously, but I do see him in league play sometimes. I'm not convinced that Dumais would have been much of a contributor this year but he should get a chance next year.
