WJC: 2023 Team Canada Roster Talk Part 2

I think the strategy of valuing 18 years old to 19 years old when they are similar in skill is a good one because the tournament gives valuable experience and will make the 18 yo player better at the next tournament. That's why the omission of Beck and Dumais seem strange to me considering they'll surely be on the team next year if they're not in the NHL (Which we can safely assume)

Stephane Julien called Tyson Hinds the best trade he ever made (over Josh Roy). Nothing against Hinds but it probably helped that Julien is assistant coach.

I wonder if Rousseau had a shot of making the team to begin with or if HC just wanted a fourth goalie to balance out the U sports games. Because it's bizarre to me that the goalie with the best save percentage of the four with their respective teams and the best game in camp got cut, seems like HC was going to take 2 of Gaudreau, Milic and Brennan regardless. If they only brought those 3 then one of them would have had an unfair advantage of playing two of the U sports games unless they made one of them a lock and the other two played in both the games which they probably weren't comfortable doing.

They are probably going with Gaudreau and Milic who were 1 and 2 at U18.

Where’s the streamed event? Mark Masters said it would be on Sportscentre. It’s supposed to be announced right now.

Lets be honest, If Colton Dach's brother wasn't Kirby would he have even been drafted in the 2nd round let alone in consideration for this team?

Ya makes sense. I'm fine with those two in net.

Overall should be a good team and we should be in gold medal contention. But I still believe some high end skill was left off the table. HC still seems to fall into age and size bias. Even though in IIHF events they tend to call a tighter game and generally reward faster skilled forwards.

Allan over Lambos doesn’t make sense to me. Seems like Chicago brass might have a little more pull than other teams than HC.

This has to be one of the biggest Team Canada's I can recall.

So many guys that are 6'2-6'4. Only small guys are probably the team's most dangerous scorers in Bedard and Stankoven.
