Since it seems the Ducks will likely finish bottom 5 this year, I figured we should have a thread for discussing the implications of where the f***s will finish in the standings. As well as what factors could affect where they finish.

Tonight was interesting as all bottom 5 teams earned 2 points sans the Ducks and the Hawks.

Hey Folks,

Want to clear some of the air here, Tank talk is not an issue, please talk tank to your heart’s content here, totally understand how critical it is for that Future Potential Top pick. The issue is posting in the GDT, like you want the team to lose or make posts that you are angry they are winning or won the game, or bashing the team for not tanking.

The main reason is, to respect your fellow members. The GDT is about discussion of the game on a live basis and then post game discussion and opinions. A lot of fans are not rooting for the team to lose, and everyone has their views and opinions towards tanking, and may not want to discuss tanking in the GDT

If you guys have any concerns, feel free to PM me or another mod, and would be happy to explain more in detail.

Thanks!

Leo

We need a good coach to teach these young guys how to defend as a whole unit.. Team Defense wins championships.. Eakins is not that guy.. We have alot of good young defensive prospects coming up.. They could make the jump as early as next year..

This will be hard for me to explain, but I still don’t see our potential prospects being able to handle the playoffs, let alone a championship.

I can understand people being really excited about Zellweger and Luneau with their potentials, but the playoffs are a different animal. Our blue line should be ‘beefed’ up a bit more to let these offensive guys thrive.

Warren is different- and why I am really excited about him. He can be a strong physical presence on the blue line (if development goes well)

Chicago has 5 shots halfway through the game, trailing 3-0 to Dallas. Our fate for any positives rests with San Jose tonight (lol) and they need to win in regulation for tiebreaker purposes

Erik Karlsson is leading the brigade as the Ultimate Tank Commander in his own end.

Reimer has been outstanding, but there is zero chance I think the Sharks leave this game with a point, especially with how badly Winnipeg needs this one since Calgary won earlier

Holy shit, the Sharks up 2-0 on a PP with three minutes left have allowed a breakaway and a partial breakaway in the last 30 seconds, stop trying to give away points you morons.

But Kaut scores to make it 3-0 and put this one away. HUGE victory, made even more so given of the three teams we're chasing, it's the one I want to have the most separation possible from #1.

Yeah if they can just go ahead and not win another game, that'd be greaaaat.
Ducks probably win, at maximum, 1 game (the Arizona game), probably 0 if Terry and Zegras stay out. Looking at Columbus, Chicago and San Jose I could see them going:

- Columbus: I don't really see them winning anything the remaining season; maybe Philly
- Chicago: 2 possible wins (St Louis and Philly)
- San Jose: 1 win (Arizona) maybe 2 if they stun the Jets again

So based on my not so expert opinion:

Columbus 53
Anaheim 56 (scenario with no wins)
Chicago 58 (best case scenario)
San Jose 59 (best case scenario)

Maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part.

And then some asshole team that finished higher up wins the lotto and we get bumped to 3rd.

Whatever keeps them in the top 4 is all that matters in this ass wart of a season.

gibson is the only reason why they're not sitting comfortably in dead last right now
Even though Zegras and many look down or frustrated, they’ve shown some good development in the you guys playing on the Ducks this season.

But it does look like they’re mentally beaten now. I assume Gibby wants to be playing, but I’d like to do what we can to keep our next year core /future guys healthy going in to an important off season

Hoping the Toews return is enough of jolt to give the Hawks a few points near the end of the season.

I don't see how. Toews hasn't been himself for a long time. He's probably rusty after taking a break. He'll be the perfect tank commander if anything.
