Since it seems the Ducks will likely finish bottom 5 this year, I figured we should have a thread for discussing the implications of where the f***s will finish in the standings. As well as what factors could affect where they finish.

Tonight was interesting as all bottom 5 teams earned 2 points sans the Ducks and the Hawks.

Hey Folks,

Want to clear some of the air here, Tank talk is not an issue, please talk tank to your heart’s content here, totally understand how critical it is for that Future Potential Top pick. The issue is posting in the GDT, like you want the team to lose or make posts that you are angry they are winning or won the game, or bashing the team for not tanking.

The main reason is, to respect your fellow members. The GDT is about discussion of the game on a live basis and then post game discussion and opinions. A lot of fans are not rooting for the team to lose, and everyone has their views and opinions towards tanking, and may not want to discuss tanking in the GDT

If you guys have any concerns, feel free to PM me or another mod, and would be happy to explain more in detail.

Thanks!

Leo

Not possible. They only draw for the top 2 spots, you either move up there, stay where you are, or fall 1 or 2 places
Yes I know. I’m speaking hypothetically that would you all take knowing where we are right now in the standings, that we will end up drafting 3rd? Obviously meaning we missed out on bedard and fantilli. But have the next best player to draft…

I know this isn't attempting to be some definitive answer blah blah, but I still think that with the amount of luck that plays into hockey, trying to make these predictions with 25 games left to play feels like a fool's errand. There's plenty of time for us to repeat last year's 13-game losing streak.

Can't imagine we'll have an accurate picture until we're under 10 games remaining or so.

There are only 15 games left, not 25.

needed that one badly. especially with another win coming up Friday against columbus

winning tonight would have been disastrous
Idk, they just beat the Sharks in a loser-point-off. But considering San Jose is more committed to the tank than we are, I expect the BJs to be in peak tank mode.

the sharks are dedicated to the tank and they are absolutely awful. same goes with columbus. i'm not expecting a loss against the jackets at all

When I see Ducks games like last night, I still can’t comprehend that there are teams below us in the standings.

i thought the same until the TDL

but the sharks and hawks completely gutted their rosters. most of the guys they are icing every night are AHL-tier. same with columbus because of all the injuries they've dealt with. their defense+goaltending is just laughably bad

meanwhile the ducks are still icing zegras/terry/mctavish/fowler/gibson. that's far better than the crap those other tanking teams are icing on a nightly basis

I'm all for the tank, We really need to get a Top 3 pick, Top 5 worst case. I just can't root for them to lose, was actually pissed at that loss last night after they had a great 1st period, but it was also a wake up call to reality. Maybe it was also because I don't like the islanders, being a rival for me, lol.
