Since it seems the Ducks will likely finish bottom 5 this year, I figured we should have a thread for discussing the implications of where the f***s will finish in the standings. As well as what factors could affect where they finish.

Tonight was interesting as all bottom 5 teams earned 2 points sans the Ducks and the Hawks.

Hey Folks,

Want to clear some of the air here, Tank talk is not an issue, please talk tank to your heart’s content here, totally understand how critical it is for that Future Potential Top pick. The issue is posting in the GDT, like you want the team to lose or make posts that you are angry they are winning or won the game, or bashing the team for not tanking.

The main reason is, to respect your fellow members. The GDT is about discussion of the game on a live basis and then post game discussion and opinions. A lot of fans are not rooting for the team to lose, and everyone has their views and opinions towards tanking, and may not want to discuss tanking in the GDT

If you guys have any concerns, feel free to PM me or another mod, and would be happy to explain more in detail.

Thanks!

Leo

Columbus mercifully gets the game to OT and will get at least a point.

From what I’ve seen, Gudbranson has looked like complete shit everywhere except when he played with Fowler here. Cam‘s been through a lot but he’s carried some corpses
He’s horrid. People wanted him on a 3 year deal…

Montreal gives up the game tying goal with around three minutes left in regulation. Bad teams are bad.

They get Carolina to OT though, which is a massive win. Thought that'd be a blowout.

Evangelista is going to be a star in the league and it is unfortunate that the Ducks preferred taking Perreault and Colangelo right before he was taken by Nashville in 2020.

2020 hindsight. ha!

Perreault has the tool kit like Lucas Raymond and speed, but the space between the ears aren't there yet along with a two-way game.

D+0
Perreault, OHL: 53 games, 70 pts
Evangelista, OH: 62 games, 60 pts

D+1
Perreault, AHL: 27 games, 17 pts
Evangelista, AHL: 14 games, 4 pts

D+2
Perreault, AHL: 55 games, 37 pts
Evangelista, OHL: 62 games, 111 pts

D+3 (2022-23)
Perreault, AHL: 38 games, 16 pts
Evangelista, AHL: 49 games, 41 pts

Feels like this season Evangelista passed up Perreault. There should be caveat to this season because Evangelista is on a better AHL team than Perreault. Perreault is going on his third coach in three seasons and will be seeing a fourth head coach next season.

It might be too early to say much right now with Perreault. Talent is there, but support isn't for proper growth, both on the ice and behind the bench. I remember Draft Dynasty doing his breakdown and came away impressed offensively. If you're drafting him, then you need to develop his defensive game and motor.

Perreault and Evangelista are of similar build. Colangelo brings a bigger forward to the org, a 6'2 power forward. The org is drafting on balance, which is good, but connecting on forwards is always something that eludes our guys. Still, Perreault's talent is undeniable when we nabbed him at 27th. I'm hoping he just needs time to click since he's been playing in the AHL all the while under transition.

I can't remember who I wanted at 27th that draft year, but at 36th I wanted RD Helge Grans. Grans is struggling this year at the AHL level compared to last year.

Next year might be great for Perreault as he'll get a year stronger and have better support on the ice, hopefully.
